Yea, you can't go wrong with the billet k16's, k24/18g's or A28's!

Hey seems like i made the right move. I will start slow at 1.1 bars then go from there.

Yeah...my 18g setup, with the meth, seemed to be a deadly setup for the street. It did hit kinda hard and I always had traction issues, but it was worth it once you learned how to drive it...Alpha 28 is a better all around turbo, but if you already have K24's, or can get some cheap, it's a no brainer.

They were such a great balanced turbo set up that I was/am wondering if Imade a mistake. The below is the reason I was contemplating selling my k24billet 20's that are still at EPL's!

This was a PM I sent someone looking for my new K24BILLET 20's.:

"If you are tracking I just sold my K16 Billets and those my friend aredown right amazing turbos and would be perfect for track use. You are on boostwhat seams like all the time and it was making enough power on pump gas(94octane) to pull down 711+RWHP 11 5.0 Mustangs, 678RWHP MustangShelby's,ZR-1's,modded GTR's...and not just beat them by a car...we are talkingLengths.

BANG FOR THE BUCK YOU WOULD NOT GET A BETTER TURBO PERIOD!!

If you have k16 already, send them out to 911 and it would be the best $1500spent. BEST overall/bang for the buck turbo period!"

Power under the curve is just amazing with these BILLET 16's!! I just feltas I started to stretch their power (higher boost and more flowing upgrades)that their lack of top end (6100-6200rpms+) started to show.

If I didn't "upgrade" to Billet 20's or maybe even 3076's, Iwouldn't regret staying with the BILLET 16's and seeing how far I could havetaken them.

Saying that, I am sure there will be a difference between your 16g vs BILLET16 and 72lbs injectors especially with EPL's tune. I just think that maybegoing from a 16g to a K24 BILLET 18's or Alpha 28's would of been a moresubstantial upgrade considering all of the hassle/cost of RE/RE tune etc.

Thanks

Bobby Ali

Granted he had a lot more done to the car and was on the motor's threshold. But still impressive they produced those numbers at all.
Im going to correct you since I did Randy's cars before he broke the k16 billet record and the A28 record.
He had billets.. but there is more then one type... available thru different companies... he had the cheaper version non AMS.... and he ran those numbers... he dynoed 570whp on race at 1.45 bar and when he turned it up to 1.55 it make no difference.. I agree that some out there throw dyno numbers around like its candy but in the end most cars are slow... food for thought...
Back when most companies were doing fast and furious Evos and Subies( LOL) we were putting on 16gs, then 18gs and even 20gs on our P cars.... this was 9 years ago... at that time nothing existed other then a k16/24...

HI,What you say makes great sense BUT you said you were going to run Meth with the bigger turbo upgrade which will make more HP when it hits max boost, meth will have it pull harder until that, and you will probably not lose that much low end as compared to the 16s on pump gas..IMO..

Yea, but that shows ~550whp on pump. The others were on racegas. Didn't know if you were running race gas or pump. I figure most of us are running pump.

Again, not hating on k16 billets at all or your choice. (also just bought a set of billets myself) They've proved them self again and again on just about every test out there. I was just trying to see if I had missed some revolutionary change out there.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I remember him sayin he had the 16/16g at some point, and still thought he said he ran in the 5's with them. Guess I was mistaken though. And I completely agree about the dyno's, I'm not much of a fan myself. 1/4 mile is my preferred favorite, but I understand why a lot of 6speeders enjoy the 60-130

I made the switch as well (though not Tony's turbos, I do run an EPL tune). My impressions were a better boost threshold and post-shift boost recovery with the lighter compressor wheel and tighter compressor housing tolerances (due in part to less shaft flex with the lighter wheel). I think the flow rates and VE between the compressors are close enough that supporting mods, octane and tune have much more impact on max power than the relatively small differences in ultimate compressor wheel flow capacity. For example: injectors, 100 octane and upped boost and timing on a K16/16g car will crush a 5 bar, pump gas K16/billet car all else being equal, though you may have slightly more headroom once you get all the supporting mods. Eventually the K16 hotside and compressor housings themselves will start holding both compressors back, but the billets do make a GREAT street & road course option for reasons you may not entirely see on a dyno.

Oh, and definitely do the injectors!

My previous setup put down 500awhp on Tony's Mustang dyno. Butt dyno says I picked up ~50whp with the exhaust and intercoolers and we are still fine tuning

I used to have traction issues in 3rd if it was 50 degrees or under. Yesterday it was 65-70 degrees and even with heat in the tires I couldn't floor it with PSM turned on. This thing just rips. You'll love your new setup!
It's a STRONG package especially when it's below 65* outside. for EPL.

Wow when you get the intercoolers and upgraded exhaust installed you are going to be flying probably around 550whp pump gas.

He had billets but the 6 blade vs the 7 blade... the 7 blade is twice the money...
I think there is alot of confusion out there when it comes to k16 billets.... no they are not all the same... And yes as earl stated, it has a lot to do with the tune as well.. BTW, we he did it on our tune and 3.5" ICs... furthermore, he broke the A28 record as well...
same set up... just different turbos...
