Turbo S to GT2 clone

Turbo S to GT2 clone
Hello All,
This my first post and would like to address the issue of trying to convert my '05 Turbo S to a rear wheel drive GT2 clone. When i bought the car it had all the wanna be exterior parts like GT2 front and rear bumpers. Whatever.
I'm more interested in the running gear. The car has PSS9 suspension and some sort of after market cats (too loud for my liking) as the car is used as daily driver. I purchased a used OEM cat/muffler assembly so I may put it on for daily stuff and put the aftermarket cats on for tracking.
I've read a few posts about removing the front axle/diff assembly but I'm not sure if I read that the ones that did convert were comfortable with the transition.
Are there any Turbo S owners out there that have done the conversion ?
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Btw. I drive the Nurburgring every year for a couple of weeks and I am anticipating taking the car with me this year. But I would like to go through the conversion beforehand and test it locally.
I'm thinking: tune, plenum, plugs, diverter valve, blow off valve, intercoolers, MAP.
Any thoughts would be great !

1. Remove cardan shaft, front differential and front driveshafts
2. Install a Porsche Motorsport LSD or Guard LSD. DO NOT install the OEM GT2 LSD. It is junk and wears out after only a couple of track days.
3. Remove the gearbox and install a gearbox cooler along with the GT2 clutch hydraulics deleting the OEM clutch assist. Drill/Tap method is recommended.
4. Permanently delete the PSM system (ABS remains)
5. Remove the stock brakes and install the GT2/3 brakes. You might as well install the 997 GT2 brakes at this point. They are larger 380/350. Also install the GT2 front and rear brake ducts. Fronts are the same as 996 Cup.
6. Remove the front uprights and install GT2/3 uprights thereby correcting the front geometry.
7. Install quality coilovers with appropriate spring rates
8. Install front and rear GT2/3 adjustable sway bars
9. Install rear solid subframe bushings
10. Install adjustable front LCAs
11. Remove sunroof panel and replace with solid GT2 roof and GT2 headliner
12. Remove rear wiper
13. Remove rear seats, seatblelts, and subwoofer
14. Install 996GT3 Euro seats
15. Remove spare tire and install the GT2 trunk tray
16. Engines are identical but 997GT2RS intercoolers are a great upgrade. You will get much greater gains at the track by focusing on sorting the suspension / drivetrain / brakes rather than by adding more power. Classic mistake... More power should be the last on the list.

pwderhound you da man..
i'm running rwd as of a cpl hours ago, ( can't tell any difference driving home but haven't hit it yet ) but only for having removed the cardan shaft, to see how it feels. as we were not re-installing it after dropping the trans, i harkened back to the many threads in which you've mentioned your setup, was in the back of my mind about needing a guards lsd and all the stuff and lo, here it is again. so..subscribed.
i'm probably gonna do it all up properly now that i have no chance of ever bringing this car back to any semblance of "stock", but rather it's "streetable". i'll see how i like it, and probably go with it. next step will be removing the diff and all that frontal weight. so we shall see. just the timing of the thread
..and to the op ( forgive me..) the point was/is.. i'm "testing" the feel of it myself!

Since you're local you can visit Marco at Magnus Motorsports (Keele south of Rutherford) for some help in the tuning area. He did my car and has a 996tt of his own. He's built a few 1000-1200whp cars so he'll be able to help you out.

35-40 miles of fast canyon sweepers at dawn on fresh blacktop. honestly, can't tell any difference at all and i don't get squirelly.. but didn't before either. need more testing
wondering how the power put down on the right rear wheel only will be different? i get the need for the guards 60/40 though. makes perfect sense to me.

I have gt2 front wheel carriers and pccb's front and rear that I may let go of, you would need struts as your turbo one will not work unless you have sleeves on them (moton, jic) you would still need to change the upper mount to a C2/gt2/3 one. You can use a stock lsd but would need to use the guards clutch pack.
