i tried that and my cruise control would kick off on every bump in the road. using a lighter spring from home depot i reinstalled the spring and the cruise works fine now but the pedal is very stiff (like my big rig!) so i ordered the gt2 spring and ill try that.

i wouldn't pay 1100$ for the p/s setup. search the boneyards for a tiptronic unit unit. same as a gt2 or simply plug off the lines and save the money. i did the labor myself and it wasn't hard at all. actually the hardest part is getting the master cylinder in under the dash. just no room for a pair of arms!

Yeah, I was thinking that looks pretty steep. The job is quite reasonable if you remove the power steering stuff.

you can plug the lines back by the trans and only remove the p/s pump enough to remove the coupler

Excellent write-up! The search here really sucks because that thread didn't come up during my search for this info...

I removed all the old hydraulic lines. There is no need for them. Why plug them? Toss them...

with the engine in the car its a pain to get them out. plugging them makes it easier for those trying this and they can be removed down the road if the engine ever comes out.
by plugging them you don't have to drill and tap the p/s only need to remove the coupler. just easier for some. for me i removed everything lines pump and res and installed a gt2 setup

Same here... I also have the proper GT2 assist spring. Clutch feels perfect.

You can easily get a 8mm brass plug made to seal the larger line and the other smaller steel line you can just cut and weld the line or get a plug made too or tap both and plug with npt plugs.. You just need to remove the coupler on the pump.
