Removal of CATS from stock exhaust

Has anyone removed the 4 - 200 cell cats from their stock exhaust? I spent the day modifying my stock GT2 muffler with a large pry bar and hammmer (hours of prying, crushing and manipulating). An easier method would have been to cut the exhaust, remove the CATS, then re-weld. I love the Fabspeed Super Sport, however, I have a hard time conversing on the phone while in the car, and my neighbors are starting to think that I have a piece of heavy equipment in my garage every time I do a cold start. The Fabspeed will still be used at the track, I just need something quieter for the street. I know that the stock exhaust will increase back pressure, but how much of that back pressure is caused by the 2 large blockages (after each turbo) called catalytic converters? How will a "CAT less" stock muffler compare to a Fabspeed Super Sport with 100 cell CATS?

Well, I removed the CATS and will test the system tomorrow. Hopefully I won't get a CEL, but if I do, I have a reader to reset. The exhaust "looks" a lot less restrictive; the expansion chambers directly after the turbines are wide open now which should promote flow and reduce back pressure and be more quiet.

Buddy, I not a ***** or getting too old!

The cats even 100 cell definately block airflow. Looked at mine today versus the cat bypass which is basically the Fabspeed cat with nothing inside.

My dealer installed the bypass and straight pipes today and no CEL. You have to mount the O2 sensors somewhere and the fab bypass pipes has the built in locations.

I think I might just keep it this way for the street! Sound bad to the bone.

Even the fabspeed exhaust creates a loss of 5 psi of boost at least it did on my car.

Dammit, I knew I should have consulted with the Doctor first. Stephen, what kind of driveability issues? I do not want to do anything that could damage the motor. I assumed this would be a good compromise...low back pressure with chambered muffler...cheap too!

I believe you can fab up some cat material around the O2 sensors to trick the ECU into thinking you have cats. Seen it done before - no codes.
