question on price of 04 996 turbo
Hi all. I'm new to the forum and on the hunt for a 996 turbo. A local guy has an 04 with 54k on it and he is the 3rd owner. Says he will let it go for 46k. It is a manual trans and non x50.
Car is the right color both in and out and is clean.
Question.. Is that price pretty good, or should to try to go a bit lower?
Thanks! Looking forward to becoming part of the community.

It is an 04 though. I'm seeing 01-02 with around 50k mileage going for around 42k. I'm guessing it being a few years newer is driving the price up a bit.
I'm going to find out the full list of options and I will post them here.
Thanks for the reply!

Options don't seem to be that much:
Wheel caps with color crest
passenger lumbar support
driver lumbar support
6 disc cd changer
full leather - black
stainless steel exhaust pipes
instrument dials in aluminum look
18" sporttechno wheel
carbon/alum gear shift **** and brake handle

Even as a base car with not many options? 46k is good?
I'm waiting for the DME report right now, but other than that it seems just fine
Car is a 3 owner car. Can anyone think of any valid reasons to spend 46k on an 04 then perhaps lower 40s or high 30s on an 01-02?

I think it all depends on what you want and your comfort level. I bought an 01 with 10k just about 6 months ago and paid 44k. To me having extremely low mileage and not molested was worth it. Needed coil packs and a MAF but so far like new. That price seems on par for the year/mileage so if you want an 04 and its your color and options-buy it.
If you are serious about the car and you would be an owner for the right price, have a PPI done. Look it over very closely, check for all the manuals, receipts, tools, keys, ect.
Only after you have done all this worry about the price. Tell the owner you would be a buyer at this $XXXX price and offer him a small cash down payment with your offer.
Too many people want a firm price commitment from the seller with out being serious about being a buyer. If you want a seriously good deal and want the seller to stand up to attention, get all the indecisions regarding condition and everything else out of the way first. Tell him you don't have to talk it over with your wife, mom, or anyone else. Let him know you have the where-with-all to buy it. Show him a letter of credit from your bank or CU, or your your savings account statement.
Once he is certain you have cash, it is your decision and you will buy at the right price, right now, you will get his best price, guaranteed!
Too many buyers seem to be buying a "deal". The put the "deal" before the vehicle. Sellers get sick of this, believe me.
