I'm having an email battle with the seller of what looks to be a 2002 C4S...He maintains it is a twin turbo 4S Carrera which to my knowledge never existed. I did a search and couldn't find anything to substantiate his assertion. Here is the CL ad for the car...

There is no such thing from the factory. I have a single (TPC) turbo C4S and it's an aftermarket turbo.

 

The C4S has the turbo widebody and brakes, etc. but not the engine. His car has the mass produced 996 normally aspirated engine. The turbo has the Metzger derived GT1 engine. Basically, the turbo is a hand built detuned racing engine.

 

Maybe it's a twin turbo 4s carrera with turbo delete package.

Now if it's an aftermarket setup it could be an amazing monster, however, based on the price I'm betting just a run of the mill 4s

 

I agree with all of you, but this guy keeps maintaining it is some kind of 'special' limited run car. I think he's FOS but wanted to ask the experts here first. I asked for the original sticker or anything else that documents the 'special' nature of the car...so far, crickets.

 

Not factory...there are a few single turbo c4s aka tpc single turbo kit
and there are a few twin turbo c4s's around also aka ima kit. Both not factory though.

 

there is a website you can enter his VIN and get the full story. Do a search for VIN printout. He's full of ****. He's trying to play to the uneducated. C4S is all turbo except for the NA engine, and fewer standard features.

 

actually the tt could be considered a ttc4s. but its called a turbo

 

I am corresponding with the person Tim Church, and asked him to prove his claim with factory paperwork, or send the VIN. He is getting nasty. I'd encourage folks here to mark his ad on craigslist as a fraud.

 

Ask for a pic of the engine bay

 

if you want a turbo buy one. if you want a c4s buy one. just don't try to buy them both in one car lol

 

Have him post a pic of the engine bay. That will quickly show whether it's a factory turbo engine or not.

 

I usually don't get wrapped up with stuff on cl, but I couldn't resist at least asking what the deal was with the car...I've flagged the ad, others should as well. If he was just wrong but nice about it, that's one thing..but he's not nice in his communications. He said the msrp was $189k, but he hasn't sent it to me..thx
