there are so many options and sound is all personal. a search will be very beneficial in helping you narrow down exactly what you like. for reference, though, here are some popular ones, in no particular order:

cargraphic export loud version
europipe stage ii loud
psi motorsport loud
ruf
fvd
fabspeed
awe tuning
techart / supersprint

i am partial to the sounds of the psi motorsport, cargraphic, or europipe, but i have not heard the exhausts all i listed above in person. hearing the exhausts in person is the best test. since i like it agressive though, i would buy the psi motorsport loud or cargraphic export loud in a heartbeat, personally depends on how much you are willing to spend, how loud you want it, if you care about resonance, etc. tons of info on previous threads.

I've got AWE and am very pleased...great quality, very nice sound, easy install, no droning, not super expensive.

if you hear a PSI loud in person, chances are you will buy it. the sound is phenomenal, pretty rumbly and throaty, unique, agressive but not overbearing. in car it sounds fantastic, has the right gutteral tone and bark to it that lets you know it is a porsche. the build quality is exceptional, too

PSI looks like a very solid product, people here used to buy Europipe, Fabspeed, Cargraphic. I love PSI

I have the quiet Fabspeed, and I'm very happy with it! It sounds great, and it's nice and light!

i am now realizing how naive i was coming into the 996tt. i had the PSE on my '03 996 C2 which i absolutely loved for $1500. i was hoping to find something similar in quality (sound & lack of resonance) for a similar price.

i was excited to think that the AWE exhaust mentioned by Dr. T would fit the bill as he mentioned inexpensive. THEN i saw the link for $3700 - yikes!

guess there's no hope for me

You probably haven't priced the Europipe yet...$3700 isn't expensive.
