Anyone using the AEM Infinity?
To be fair, that's not the ProEFI logging to USB, that's an additional device. From the looks of it a pretty damned nice device too! I know Syveccs has their display as well and it only makes sense to run something like that - wish there was a better place to mount it.
Spent some time today on Supraforums looking at their ProEFI forum. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/for...on-and-Reviews THAT is a support forum and while dedicated to Supra you can learn a **** ton about the ProEFI box and its capabilities, AEM's forum used to be that good. Miss my Supra and missed out on a ton of neat stuff mourning its loss it seems.
Hopefully I can find something similar for Syveccs to read up on. The latest manual I've found from Syveccs for their hardware was copyright 2011 which is a little distressing. So far the ProEFI software looks far easier to use but I'm still learning. The fact that you apparently have to have about 5 different programs to work with Syveccs seems pretty odd to me. How active is their software development? ProEFI seems very active with hardware, not yet dug into their software yet. End of the day flashy doesn't run the car but useful software makes the calibration and troubleshooting process easier. Mind you I started with DOS based DFI software back before the 'net so I can certainly work with less intuitive stuff but that doesn't mean I like it ;-)
Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for not devolving this into a pissing match. All of these solutions can be made to work, just trying to find the rough edges and understand each better. Hopefully this helps others too! An active tuning community on this platform would sure be nice

since using a standalone in a 996 turbo is relatively new and no matter which you choose your going to spend a fairly large amount of money i think thats why there is a large amount of civility regarding all these setups. i do agree the supra, muscle car and mitsubishi forums are were you will find a huge amount of info. its funny you went supra because thats were garth has been tuning for yrs before venturing into the porsche world. he has done some crazy high hp builds on that platform.
no matter which way you go i think your going to find it light years ahead of the oem computer. not that the oem setup is bad but rather just old and even a punter dummy like me knows just how fast things move in this new world of technology. 10 yrs is a lifetime in the computer world!
wait until i get my bracket made for the logger. i think it will move it out of the way without ripping anything apart that can't be put back to factory.
you know we completely forgot about the Eurodyne Maestro 7 Tuning Suite . wolf hedge had tim use this on his car and had great results. also chris at ups motorsports has a 9 sec gt2 with this software. since your already comfortable tuning your own car this might be the best bang for the buck

Yeah, pretty familiar with Supra and had great luck till an asshat ran me over. That drivetrain might yet live in a 240Z! That community has always been fairly hands-on and its not a surprise to me that they're sharing information on this ECU. I hope to find the same for Syveccs somewhere, probably VW Audi somewhere.
You're right I did forget the Maestro suite. I looked at that some too but it's been a little while, stock ECU reflashing as I recall. I'm also hoping that Cobb brings someone out for the 996 but am not holding my breath. Glad to see so many options!
Btw I hope that the logging speed you mentioned before is actually faster than 10samples a second, that's actually low for an ECU unless many channels are being logged. I'm pretty sure the CAN bus can move the data rate no problem. The new 112 box is supposed to be faster, wonder if it logs even quicker. No details on the ProEFI site about it yet that I've found but I know the cpu is more capable, I think the IO is falls between the two existing options?

So... Some research. Maestro, I remembered why I decided not to look too closely at this one - no live tune I believe. I'm spoiled, I want to make changes and have them take effect right away. On the AEM this was huge when tuning idle and cold start. Tuning off the OEM maps would make this easier but you're also saddled with the stock IO and if you've spent any time looking at what standalone can do can see why this might feel limiting!
Looking at Syveccs and ProEFI, I've sent an email to Undercover to get some information as it seems they're close to me. I've got the ProEFI software to play with and Steve was nice enough to send some logs to look at but I've not yet had time. Watched quite a few vids from both vendors, Syveccs has some pretty nice instructional vids for various functionality but their software seems complex but damned capable. I can see why these are used on GT-R! ProEFI seems to have a streamlined interface that might be easier to work with and may expose less of the guts underneath. That's a double edged sword but I won't be developing a new platform so I'd likely be fine. Syveccs is a suite of executable, ProEFI seems a little more integrated but I'll know more when I load it. The knock strategy of Syveccs is way better than my old AEM, ProEFI likewise is a huge advance, Infinity likely is too to be fair. Both systems have displays with the Syveccs apparently being touch screen. Nice to see things have grown up so much since I last tuned but still no knock detection via the spark plugs at least on these systems. Bummer! ;-) I think Autronic could do it and Motec, still hoping it trickles down...
P.s. Anyone got cruise working with Syveccs?

If I am not mistaken ... Jason the owner/developer of Proefi was the guy who built the AEMv1... I have my r32 Gtr with a proefi 128 ecu putting down 950whp ...and just purchased the proefi 128 kit for my 996tt... I have nothing but good things to say about this ecu. I have used , Motec, Haltech, AEM, power FC, Vipec... On previous builds... And nothing compares to the proefi.
Comparing the Proefi to Motec:
Motec is top notch in the ecu industry.. But the price of a unit is out of this world ... If you were to purchase a Motec and have all the same features as the proefi box would offer, your looking at well over 10k in just software, then you would need to purchase the ecu + harness and sensors ...
For under 5k you can get a complete proefi 128k with logger flex fuel and all of its amazing features...and still maintain all dash features. Abe Berro

Jason was indeed heavily involved with AEM (GEMS UK) as were some others. That was a groundbreaking ECU and I had one of the first. Tech has moved way way forward since then and I have catching up to do. I agree with your evaluation of Motec, awesome hardware but priced unrealistically for my goals which is primarily a street car. Folks I respect really like the ProEFI but Syveccs also appears capable and I'm trying to discern differences between the two. It would rock if you could say you had used that one too lol! I've got an email into Undercover and I'll be interested to hear what they have to say about their install on this platform.
For those running a ProEFI on the 996 platform with 6sod, how many spare IO do you have after install? I can't help but be a data junky and on my Supra I had all sorts of gizmos wired up. Same question for the Syveccs guys! How much capability is available after the car's housekeeping is shaken care of?

Hi,
I also looked at ProEFI and Syveccs but I am not yet ready to pull the trigger. My concern is the security features of the OEM setup.
How exactly is interaction with ABS/PSM working? Does it really work like OEM and who is going to pay when not
What about emission test pass? We need to do that every 2 years. You sure can run a software just for that purpose, but idle needs to be working really good. Is it? OBD status needs to be present. Is it?
Corn is not what I am after right now because the supply in my region is not good enough, but I could need a working traction control and I understand that both Syveccs and ProEFI do have good solutions. But how good are they besides straight line 1/4 mile races?
Thanks for any experience you can share.
Best
Andreas

The ABS/PSM still work but I prefer the traction control from the Syvecs, hence when its dry and im on it Ill disable the PSM via the dash switch.

Thats cool,Ryan is working on getting the cruise working at the moment, apparently not many people want it sit never been a biggy and the cruise switch is normally used to activate the rolling anti-lag !!!

Edit the cruise function is there it just needs turning on and assign the cal overide to cruise sw in the software.
Im also told the Syvecs is the only ecu that will control a tiptronic properly.
A guy called Nick in Greece has one on his 997 and it runs 100-200mph in 3.1 secs and a guy in Russia (Sergei) holds the 1 mile record, theres also a new cheaper Syvecs coming out in 2 months time.
