Plex 10000000% - works very well, and the team there are only to happy to help including updates such low fuel pressure alarms, ethanol sensing etc - very good product.

Profec SpecII is so 2002!

Sounds like it's time for an ECU upgrade....Maybe ProEFI? It does all that junk. (boost by gear, rpm, flex fuel safety, yada yada!

100% agree. I think they currently have the best controller on the market. Not the best pic, but this is how I mounted it:

I just did the same setup by relocating the greddy above the A/C controls, have one red switch to enable/disable high boost.

What are those switches for? I like your setup and might go the same route, what were the main benefits using Plex and what which EBC was before it ?

Your is is RWD right ? I see this EBC almost like a stand alone without the traction control features, but anyway guess psm totally off is the way to go

The middle switch is BC on/off, with off being boost given by the spring of the wastegate when you start the car (kind of disarmed mode ). On then enables the lower switch which selects low/high boost.

Off on the middle switch also allows to change manually to RACE.

I had the HKS EVC 6 before. Also nice, but not near when it comes to features. I need boost by gear as kind of traction control (RWD) - that was the main reason for the change and I got a lot more.

Would you say we need boost by rpm too with these gt28 based turbos? I will run mainly MPSC2 for the track and PS2/PSS for the road, will convert to 4WD too, but as we all know it wont help to much

I thought HKS evc6 can do boost by gear, but anyway seems to me that Plex is even better with all that OBD logic behind

the new gtx turbos have arrived, which one to keep left or right ?

left gtx3076
right gtx2863

hotside by garrett .64 T3 (gt28) compared to OEM turbos from the gt-r

the gtx3076 are very similar in size to my actual turbos used for 996tt
expected the gtx2863 compressor cover to be smaller

Compared to oem gt-r turbos the gtx2863 are way bigger, guess will get easily 700hp crank for track events, maybe even without meth, will log everything asap and let you know guys

Yes - I have boost by rpm and boost by gear setup - so it adds boost by rpm, and then pulls some out in 5th and then 6th. I also pull boost out with temp like the oem.

The other thing I like is the fuel pressure and lambda safety. I can set thresholds for both. You would be surprised how much the fuel jumps around.

I don't have switches for mine - just change it on the gauge. But I do have my aquamist connected one of the switches. As soon as it triggers failsafe (or I turn it off) the boost gauge jumps to my first preset (you can make it switch to any one of 4 settings). The nice thing about doing it that way vs cutting the solenoid is I can still tune my boost for when the meth is off - instead of just running spring.

Thanks, so I should order the EGT version right ?

single or dual EGT version ?
do we need additional EGT sensors or rely on actual sensors ?

trying to get a configuration around the plex

There is a dual EGT version and you need the sensors + extension cables as well. 996 has no sensors that you could rely on. You need to weld the sensors into your headers.

I am still running a Proto tune on my car, considering the EGTs are were they should be and going to keep the tune, is there any benefit I should take into consideration regarding the EGT version ?

I know it will be even safer, but the probability of something wrong in the EGT are is very low, also higher EGTs come with other parameters. And as we monitor also fuel pressure, oil and water temps, AFRs etc, should I worry if going for the nonEGT version ?

asking this as considering the basic controller as the best option for my setup, thanks guys

I got the single egt version and noted that when I opened the controller it had dual egts. The software is the same, maybe I got lucky.

Like you - I'm running proto. I have only just installed egt sensors into the headers and will work with Todd to give some feedback on what I'm seeing. With your new turbos I would be less worried about egt and more worried about IAT - as they will probably start to crank heat out up high. IAT comes from the obd (actually uses the abs obd)

I have 3073s and am working on getting them to spool quicker. I want to lean out early and egts are one of the best ways to tune that.

I might just get the single EGT version than, but without sensors and just add them later if really needed.

IAT is a concern but hope not that big as my setup should be pretty efficient
-4.5" Intercoolers
-Filters above IC
-Big piping everywhere
-but most importantly maybe Aquamist meth system with 2x1.2mm injectors (biggest)

With these big actual turbos I get often temps bellow ambient for a while even at WOT, compared also the hotside of the gtx28 with the hotside of stock GT-R turbos (see pic1 above) and they are pretty big.. I would say the gtx28 with the .64AR is quite the same if not even a bit bigger than my old A3076. My actual turbos are more like gt35s compared even with Alphas.

I guess keeping the car till 1.6-1.7bar on 4th gear and upper gears only will be ok IAT wise, planning to run maybe like 1.2-1.3bar for 2nd and 1.2-1.3bar for 3rd gear till 5000rpms or so and ramp up to 1.5-1.6 till 7000rpms, will have to see

Will set up aquamist to inject only above 1.35bar based on boost like 90% and only like 10% by IDC or so (to start from 3rd gear only after 4500 rpms or so), this will help on IAT also

I run aquamist too - and see similar temps. Also combining aquamist and plex has worked really well with my setup. I'm using 1mm jets, but could get away with 1.2.

I'm also using the plex to stage the second fuel pump. It comes on based on throttle, boost and rpm.

I had it mounted on the steering column above the gauge, which was nice but the resolution was so quick it was tough to absorb what was going on. However, I do miss the shift light and fail safe messaging - or overboost.
