Looking for feedback on light weight flywheel
Do you have any url's or partsnumber to point to that the flywheel is the same?
Im not saying that a reduction in fw weight is bad, but cutting it to 1/4 is not good at all imo.
You can prove me wrong by showing me information where the gt2rs actually has a 9lbs fw and i'll stop discussing this at once and go back to my cave. =)

As far as part numbers, I'm sure your competent mechanics can provide them to you. They are all in PET. Takes 30 seconds to look them up. In case they can't, you can easily get the info from many other sources. Oh yeah, I was rounding up when I said the .81 6Cup flywheel was 9 lbs, it actually closer to 8. Yeah, Porsche must be crazy installing it in the 7GT2RS. What were they thinking? Maybe less weight, better throttle response, better heel/toe shifting, and quicker turbo spool? Surely they would have got more performance by strapping a 30 lb dual mass on the engine...
Cheers!

Looking for feedback on light weight flywheel
Tim,
I would install the regular 11lb. OEM 964RS LWFW. It's about half the cost of the slightly lighter Cup flywheel. I don't know about down under, but stateside this FW is available for about $500. The part number is 964.102.239.31. Getting it from Porsche is pricey but you can get the one that does not come in the Porsche box for much less. Like I said, about $500. They are made for Porsche by Rauch and Spiegel or Sebro. You need other bits and pieces like ring gear, bolts, guide tube, etc. for the full conversion. I am running this flywheel but will likely swap in the 9lb Cup version in when my gearbox comes out again.

Cheers buddy,

No need to crawl into your hole. Just don't blindly believe and regurgitate all the misinformation you read about on the net.

As far as my mechanic, i work on my own car so i don't have any.
But i talk to lots of guys to hear different opinions, the last person who adviced me against lwfw has just lapped nurburgring in 7:29 in a 997gt2.
Another who adviced against was the former supplyer of Isachsens (world rallycross champ) turbos, and a third one who also said the same is a mechanical engineer who crafts alot of motorsport parts.
I talked to him when i was investigating wether or not to use lightweight, and he said he would refuse to make me one, unless i made it heavier.
So these are not your average joes who adviced against this, they also have litle or no connection with each others.
So if someone have the phonenumber to Walter Rohrl maybe he can explain why they ended up with a lwfw on the gt2rs. =)
PRESSURE PLATE #996 116 027 15 SACHS
is this the equivalent setup as the 2.5?
2.5 and various other "stages" of clutch are just made up numbers by vendors for marketing. So there's no real answer to your question. I can warn you to stay away from awe-tuning who is one of the vendors that does that. They ripped me off and refused to make it right. Extremely nice pre sale and once you buy something FU buddy, no returns or fixes. Oh you got the wrong part? well FU again. Been there, done that. Don't get burned as well.

From what I can tell the 764 plate and 1098 disc are what I need but I can't find the part #'s
Here are the upgraded clutch and pressure plate.

Also remember the release bearing.
The clutch is unsprung, not sure if thats what youre after.
Did Porsche deliver any "2,5" kit on any car?

Good point, from what I can tell so far the clutch disk is
964 116 014 62
still trying to find a porsch part# for the pressure plate if it exist.
I want to go back to a DMFW, ideally something that wont chatter, does not release at the top of the pedal travel and that will hold the power of a tuned X50 with 1bar tune and exhaust.
You know, I want the perfect clutch.
I bought the car with the current setup already on it. To the best of my knowledge it has a LWFW, 2.5 sachs clutch and I have know idea on the release bearing or the pressure plate.

Just by going with statistics through forum threads, etc., though, 3.8L or less motors do not seem to have major issues with undampened harmonic vibrations.
