There's no "what did you do to your 996 Turbo today (or yesterday)?" thread here so I figured I'd just post this here!
Thanks to Sean @ SRM for working with me to get me some rails. The 1400CC FIDs were in-fact defective but Tom from FID took care of me FAST. Instead of just going with the 1400cc's again, I opted to go with SRMs fuel rails instead and run some FICs 1100cc's that I bought before and were laying around. The difference for me was $50 in the hole, but figured it didn't matter at this point, just get me rails that didn't leak! Ps...How the HELL do they machine the bore in these rails!!
Almost done..Just waiting on a couple fittings that should get here today or tomorrow!! I had to go (didn't have to but decided to go) all -6AN feed lines with the SRM rails vs -8an feed and 6an return on my modded factory rails. Once this is done...just need to get with my tuner and have him put a street tune on it then schedule some dyno time! Btw, my HP goal is 600-650whp or whatever the clutch will hold basically. Clutch is next on the list.
Sorry for no step-by-step photos guys!!! I realized I don't have the factory fuel filter, Intake, lines, SAI, etc, etc.!!! So it's really not a fair R&R vs somebody who as all that stuff still in the car!!
Hey there Ms4cd,
Yea they are nice rails!!
I upgraded because I was experiencing some fuel seaping out on the welds of modified factory rails. I think some of the rail coating contaminated a couple welds and once that happens...it's tough to stop it.
The injector spacers came with the FIC1100s.
My fuel system is a flex fuel system so I can run both. My primary fuel will be e85 though.
Dyno your car at Dyno-Pro in Arvada. This is who I use including a lot of other Porsche guys.... Would be good to have an apples to apples comparison
Hey Pwdrhound - I think a couple other guys were trying to get on finish line's dyno sometime in August so I might just get on with them to save some money.
Dyno Pro - Wow. I used their dyno YEARS ago. Didn't know they were still around.

I think both use dynojet right?
Scot
Yes, dynojet.. I would just like to see the difference on the same dyno of an E85 set up compared to my 91 octane I did at Dyno Pro. They are cheaper at $75 for an hour and about two miles from Finish line dyno.

These pieces are works of art! It does spin your head trying to figure out how he makes them but my lips are sealed. I look forward to getting mine on!
You dud! I was looking forward to seeing a "how to!"
Anyway, they look fantastic.
I have failed you BauerR! Lol but serious...I was looking at my setup and it's just not a fair comparison to other peep's cars. Step 1: Remove rail, Step 2: Install new badass rail, Step 3: Drink Beer and Repeat.

Blkmgk - I thought you had got SRM's whole system! I would say these are the icing on the cake! Install and fitment are great!
Oh I DO have the whole kit but I'm doing intercoolers first. Afterwards I'm going to ping Garth and get the car to his place for the fuel install and ProEFI setup. Time is so hard to come by right now and dang it Fall is closing in already
Oh I know that feeling!!! I WILL drive my car before summer ends!! Or DIE tryin!!! Good luck man! Keeping my fingers crossed for no tuning hiccups or any other catastrophes that would/could happen on my car in the next few weeks!
