Turbo upgrade time.. Which way to go
Turbo upgrade time.. Which way to go
I know this topic has probably been beat to death, but I've been reading threads all day and cant decide which set up i want to go with. My car is currently stock K16 with GIAC tune and Tubi exhaust. I don't track the car or race it, but the mod bug caught me and I want a louder, more free flowing exhaust and upgraded turbos.
I'm looking at kits like EPL and 911tuning k16 billets, but feel Id be happier with a K24 billet set up, or possibly some alphas. What options do I have to go k24, as I don't have k24 cores. Would I be better to skip k16s completely? I don't plan on doing a crazy build, just want the best bang for my buck, and don't want buyers remorse if I purchase the wrong set up.
I plan to order FVD test pipes, so I need a catless tune,(no emissions in NH) and to figure out which turbos I want. I'm interested to hear from people who recently went through this buying process.
Thanks in advance!
Adam

Good times ahead Adam. I've been doing this for years and could share information with you as far as what will help you meet your goals best. We also have every version in stock between 16 and 24 with Tial Alpha compressors installed. As well as other variations and offerings. From A-Z I can try to help you meet your goals with the best service and package pricing. Let me know if I can do anything for you or if you have any questions at all. Plenty of time sheets and data available too. Cheers
Listen to Sam I got his set up in my car and I couldn't be happier the car makes a lot of power (575HP at the wheels) and he was always very very good with me as far pricing and taking his time to explain different set ups, I went with the K16 billets and I couldn't be happier because my car is still reliable and makes good power. Hope this helps with making your decision. Joe

Did anyone go K16 hybrid/billets and instantly wish they went bigger? That's my main fear. I'm not looking for 1000hp or anything crazy, just want my butt dyno to agree with my choice.
I'm very happy with my K24/20 Undercover Performance set up. I romp the car every single day and its an absolute blast (even on its lowest setting). If you find yourself in NJ I'll you for a spin.
Speak to a few forum vendors and get the info from every perspective. Sam is fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. I'd also suggest adding Garth from Undercover to your call list.

Shout out to Marsk at 911tuning also. He has some great options too. Although you can go wrong with Sam.
OP regarding your go big question, I have the k24/20 but have never had k16/hybrid, and will say that the k24 are fun when romping on the throttle but if your driving style is track motivated, I think the k16 maybe a better option. The k24 will give you smiles all day long but they are big turbos and will get lag

This is just my weekend cruiser. I dont plan to track it at all. I really don't even need more power, but hey, why not!

Ran billet K16s with injectors and EPL tune - 3" cat-less exhaust. Car was a ROCKET and spooled better than stock K16s. I would utilize a cat-less exhaust and be careful on a stock clutch especially if the clutch has a lot of miles on it. Sam will point you in the right direction and take of you for parts, service, assist, etc....
