Where did the side intake scoop thread go?

No, it's gone. WTF? Just checked "my posts" and it is completely gone!
I hope TF that it's not because Joe Toth is not a sponsor and was perceived to be peddling his wares or similar.
If it is the case, I am going to reconsider my participation in this forum.

if he isn't a vendor they will delete the thread. its i/b policy and since they own most every car forum in the world its a fact of life. if anyone needs to get ahold of him he has a f/b page and many members on here have personal contact info. seen this happen more than once.
it likely happened because pricing was discussed openly on the forum which is a no no even for a vendor. up to that point the moderators let it be

I had no idea a vendor couldn't even discuss price. What a stupid rule.

think of all the special holiday deals . they always say pm me for best pricing. almost never have the prices on an open forum

So delete the prices / offending posts and send the posters a warning or have a mod explain the actions in an open post.
But just make the thread disappear altogether? I do NOT like this.
Mods? Position please?
Otherwise, FU!

i/b owns the websites and sets the rules. the mods are there to enforce them. don't jump on the mods for doing their job

Yep, the moderators shut it down. In addition to the email address posted above, Joe Toth has a Facebook page and he is also on rennlist where he sells his dive planes. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets shut down also. I'm not sure if it's against the rules to post someones contact info. I don't think it really matters though. This is a small community and people can PM other members to get the contact information for Joe. Joe might actually join on here as a sponsor anyway so this may be a moot point.

well, it's interesting to note that i have somehow or another lost a brownie rep point since my contribution to the toth scoop thread today, so perhaps there is some punitive aspect to all of this. either that or it's a very odd coincidence!

Nice job DSCOFF. Thanks. I just gave you rep - my first time ever. Still have no idea what that is supposed to be good for.
To go back on topic: I spent some time in airports last week, so I caught up on all sorts of reading including ICs. Mainly the "997.2 intercoolers - wow" thread and the threads that earl referenced in his first post in that thread. I had looked at all of these before and was still amazed at the amount of detail info all of these threads contain (once you sift through all the superfluous bits...).
One item that I took away is that the suction through the IC ducts due to their exiting in a low pressure area is of huge importance. It was suggested more than once that on the 996 a mod in this area may even make a greater difference than an improvement on the intake side. There was a series of pics of a race car with what amounted to a large box that was open to the back mounted over the IC duct exit in an effort to increase the low pressure here. Sort of like a large backwards scoop. Not at all pretty, tho.
This stated me thinking if a small flap mounted in front of the duct outlet might not already make a significant difference - something akin to a vertical dive plane. In the interest of low drag and aesthetics obviously not too large. But if one considers what a big difference even a very small Gurney flap makes.... Or possibly a larger but more aesthetically pleasing backwards scoop.
Just some thoughts.
