"Low oil pressure" - Shop is saying I have a major issue

good for you! what is as scary as a genuinely low pressure oil indicator is a "trusted" shop with supposed professional porsche techs telling people that they *may* need engine rebuilds when we all know the first thing to check is the "sender". sheesh.

The oil pump is a very reliable design. If you have no pressure check your oil filter for metal, if the filter looks good then check the oil pressure sensor for loose wires or a failure. Last check for physical pressure coming out of the lines. This is a total teardown if you have to get at it.
