So this happened.. (cracked intake distributor)

I've been working on removing my engine today, and on the final stages where the intake manifold is detached from the intake distributor i somehow managed to crach the pillar where the bolt sits.

So do i have to replace the part or will it work to sand and glue?
Does anyone have this piece for sale? (not new)

I would replace it instead of some jerry rig repair that will stare you in the face every time you open the lid. I would also recommend not to bolt the intake manifold to it as it puts a bit of stress on the plastic manifold which will eventually cause it to fail. I just have it free floating there without the bolt. The manifold will not go anywhere as it is held in place by the air box.

When I took my engine out I had a crack exactly at this bolt attachment. I did the repair with fibreglass and it is holding perfectly since over three years.

This looks like a common weakness. Just having mine replaced too whilst the engine is out. Looks like PO tried a repair with glue that obviously wasn't strong enough. Cost of the part is ~200GBP+VAT here (which is nothing compared to the labour )

Happens a lot when the motor is raised or lowered too far. Repairs can be done decently if you had to. But with the motor out and awesome support here with a replacement it's a no-brainer! Don't feel bad its common.

+rep guys!

Thanks for the feedback guys, im going to replace it.
At the same time im considering to strenghten it with some high temp carbon.
So this doesnt happen the next time i lower the engine.
Knowing my luck i will crack the new one when raising the engine back in

Decently common problem. My hole was about 1x2 inches. I ended up making a .25 inch steel sandwich with silicone gasket material to fix it.

I have an offer for 100dollars, but i figured since they are so easy to crack i would probably crack open the new one when fitting the engine again.. hehe
