I do my own work. Cost should only be my time and the cost of the fitting.

This is not looking like a quick/fun repair.

If you lost one of the two deep in beneath the throttle body I don't think you will be able to get it without pulling out the motor. Some other coolant pipes cross over it, no way to get your mitts in there. The ones on the very rear coolant bracket can be done.

This is what you will see under the intake and these are possibilities of leaks.... You got two glued tubes, 2 hoses going to them and two o-rings between the cooler and the cooler housing (of course you got other o-rings for the oil....)

Last week I had to remove the center of the intake assembly, see thread :https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...hread-but.html This can be done by only lowering the engine and it will give you more access to work in the area of the cooler, but still very limited access.....

Great info guys thank you. I'm going to borescope to see if I can find the origin. JPFLIP, where was your leak showing up under the car?

It wasn't major like yours. The liquid was staying on top of the block and eventually evaporate.... The pipe did not pop out because it is in a tight location with a short hose holding it...But I had a strong smell of coolant...Just a little note, I took out the engine to weld the pipes, all the pipes on the water pump housing where easy to remove. The glue did not hold any of them. The one on the steering pump housing was also easy to remove but the ones on the oil cooler where really hard and I can say they were glued properly.....

I'm still not sold this is my source, seems so odd the water comes pouring right out and it's the water I added, its not pushing coolant out from the exchanger or elsewhere. I'm hoping the borescope will find the true source.

FWIW, I spent hours reading all of the threads on this topic, including reading all of the materials submitted by Porsche to the NHTSA when they investigated this problem. I concluded that welding was the best way to go; YMMV.
Nice welds, who did the work?

I'm about 99% ready to drop the motor. Its definitely not the easiest motor to pull... much more doable thanks to all of the past/present forum peeps!!! I appreciate y'all.

Btw, I am NOT looking forward to putting that turbo inlet piping back together. Bleh! MFer

C'est la vie. I will take more pics when it's out.

Here's where I'm at:

Good tips

I already pumped all of the pentosin out of the p/s reservoir using the pulley; so it's not leaking... and too late about the I/Cs and exhaust. It's not like I'm gonna put em back on to drop the motor!! They only take 2 seconds anyway AND this is my second car, so it can be down for a little while with no inconvenience to me.
I'm not going for the motor pull/replace speed record here. Lol

IDK yet; might pin it. The weld porosity on the casting concerns me a bit. Stupid glue
