Cobb AP OTS Stage 1 ACN91 Tune - Knock

I just flashed my '02 996 Turbo with the Cobb OTS Stage 1 ACN tune (I am in CA) and I am getting some knock sums in 2nd/3rd pulls.

The plugs were changed about 8000 miles ago, car has 38k total miles. I don't suspect any other issues, but I can't be certain. I am not sure if I should revert back for now. Could it be false knock?

I've attached 2 short logs I took from the AP. Car has 3/4 tank of fresh 91 Shell gas. Using the v1.01 version of the OTS tune which should be the latest.

Car is otherwise stock on a cool-ish morning. Seems to be mostly Cyl 1 and 4.

Factory knocks more than that generally. Especially in ACN91 fuel.

Oh wow, I had no idea. I was reading the COBB notes and it suggested to keep it under 6 but closer to zero.

So for now this tune is safe to run until I can get it custom tuned on a dyno?

You can get it custom tuned by Sambo. Do some 3 gear pulls, e-mail him the files and he can send you back an updated tune. Great guy, great service. No need for a dyno.

I cannot stress enough how easy it is when using Sam and the Bydesign team. Their work is beyond top tier and he will make tuning and adjusting a breeze. Have him work up a Mafless tune for you and then the fun, slippery slope begins. All of my Stage 4 tunes show some knock sums and it runs perfect. Sam will confirm that California gas is 10000% garbage. We use it day to day as the only choice but man, is it bad.

Yep, it's true about Sam & By Design. I've had my Sambo Cobb MAFless tune for around 18-24 months now, and it's been great. Car runs strong, and very consistent.

Also agree with the California 91 octane gas, which is why I am running exclusively on 100 octane (with corresponding tune). Due to work and and a young family, I'm only driving my car once a week, sometimes it sits for 2 weeks, so I don't take it very far and there's enough stations in the Bay Area with 100 at the pump to make this workable.

And yes, the exhaust smells amazing.
