How to code out PTM
How to code out PTM
Hi Guys,
I have been running with the front drive shaft disconnected for two years now and it is great. I decided to take the next step and remove my front drive train including the differential and axles and replaced the axles with GT2 stub axles. I am now getting a PTM error code and the sport button does not activate.
Has any successfully coded the PTM code out?!
Thanks

Are you sure you used gt2 stubs? They should not fit your turbo uprights. If you did send the gt2 stub in it is a bigger diameter toothed ring that will not reach into where the pickup is located. I am not even sure you would be able to get the nut on the gt2 stub in a turbo upright.

997t and 996 t use the same uprights. the gt2 stub will still not fit. If you are having a problem with the sport button it may be do to the fact that you unplugged the electrical plug from the front drive. I would start by checking the omh's of the drive clutch plug (that plug can be picked up at any vw dealer) and make a jumper harness with a diode having the proper ohm value that way the control unit will think it is still there. It has been awhile since I tricked things but I believe you can use a low value diode because the control unit is only ''testing'' the circuit to see if it is there/connected.

If that is the case with the stubs I’m not quite sure how the mechanic go it to work? The ABS and PSM are working so I think the stubs are doing the job. However I hope this is not an safety issue.
Good idea on tricking the system I will look into it. The plugs have multiple pins so I could imagine that it may be more difficult then it seems. Great suggestion though thank you.
