Dead Battery - Can't open trunk!

How do I open the trunk to change the battery when it is so dead, nothing opens? - My ex-detailer left the keys in the car while I was skiing!!!

Depends on what year car you have. I can't tell from your avatar, but if it is a relatively new model you can use a jumper hook-up in the fuse area to open the trunk. Some models you can use the cigarette lighter. Some models have a hard cable you can pull to open.

Ok just get a set of cables. Pull your fuse box cover off.. pull out the +ive tab and connect a battery cable. Then put the ground/negative on the door latch. Connect the other two ends to another "battery" and then you can open it Make sense?

check on page 206 of your owners manual... it shows you exactly what you're suppose to do...

LOL...I just did this today. I put a new battery in last summer and it's only been stored 3 months, key out of the ignition. I hate that feeling, when you pull up on the handle and the window doesn't go down a little. I just told a friend yesterday that trickle chargers only offer peace of mind for people who can't remember to take the key out. Irony or payback.

Anyway...I keep an extra charged battery in my garage, but you can also use a battery charger, black on the hinge next to the glove box, + on the pull out red connector in the fuse box next to the clutch pedal. Just enough power to make the trunk switch work.

I keep my manual in the trunk, more irony for those that do the same.

Unhappy dead battery, braindead detailer

i love it ( EX DETAILER) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this doesn't suprise me at all, just had a client tell me a great story, takes his aston martin vanquish s to a detail shop, drops it off, his wife and him go shopping 15 miles from the detail shop in thier porsche tt. they head back to the shop at the end of the day to get the car , and they get rear ended by you guessed it thier aston martin over ten miles away from the shop, the kid driving the car was the brother of the owner, 12 years old!!!! 35k in damage, shop had NO INSURANCE, he got it repaired, i detailed it, then he sold it pronto, it looked great, but my customer mentally disconnected from the car, the porsche faired much better, didn't even bend the frame. i am sure most people would take a dead battery over that scenario.

Thanks for all the advise! I'll try it this weekend. I may have been a little harsh with the 'ex-detailer' remark, perhaps the battery was on the way out?
