Moving on after 18 years!
Thanks so much! I was still loving mine, too, when I sold the car, so I understand. The move has been good for me. I finally logged enough time in the 996tt where I was ready for a change. I just fitted a SpeedTech X-Pipe on the 991.2 turbo with a tune and it has really transformed the car. Sounds so good now and really moves!

Thanks, I certainly did a lot with that car!
I am truly enjoying and putting some miles on the 991TT this week with a PCA getaway up the coast of northern Maine. Seems like whatever model, they are just great cars to drive!

Wow, that looks pretty sick. Do you still have the Turbo S? If not, what was the primary reason for making the change? How would you compare the 2 cars? Just curious, you can keep it short.
Will you drive the GT3RS, or more of an investment? or a bit of both?
Yellow ascent color on various pieces in the interior look very nice.
Congrats!

Hi JSB,
Thanks! I kept the Turbo S, as they are very different cars. I bought it for several reasons, but mainly once you have a chance to drive a modern GT3 with the 9,000 RPM redline, the lightweight nimbleness, the intoxicating scream between 8-9,000 RPM's, the low to the ground seating position, millisecond PDK shifts, etc. it's just a "I really want one of these" moments. It's a real race car for the street, which I always sort of considered my turbos to be, but the GT3 brings it to a whole different level. After driving the GT3, the turbo feels a little more of a super luxury car, whereas the GT3 is more race car for the street and IMO, more fun if you are seeking spirited driving. It's light, sharp and makes you crave the sound of the higher redline. I have been driving a 911 my entire life for the thrill of it and I have to say the newer 991 GT3's are the most thrilling Porsches I have ever driven. They really put the fun factor up there. As for power/torque, the GT3 defies the numbers due to its light weight. We got a 991.1 GT3 last year, primarily for my son, as that was his pick. When driving together, my 991.2 turbo S with every bolt-on and custom tune (about 725 HP) has all it can do to keep up with the GT3. They are basically equally capable. The turbo will pull it slightly in a straight 1/4 mile run, but who really does that in the real world. It's because the GT3 is so much lighter, it doesn't require the HP to be as quick as higher HP cars. But it has the handling and race motor to add to the mix. After spending some days in the 991 GT3, I really wanted one for myself and figured I would get the ultimate version and probably keep it for a long time. The fun factor is extremely high and boy does it feel connected and dialed in.
I did not buy it as an investment, but rather as a toy to enjoy, however, I am aware of the GT cars and RS versions historically holding their value very well, so I will certainly take that if it happens, but I'm not counting on it. I bought it for enjoyment. I will not daily it, but I have a feeling when the spirited drives, rallies, even early morning weekend coffee runs, etc. come up, those are the keys that I'll be reaching for more often, but time will tell. It's just a real hoot to drive and cries special event. I took my about to be son in law for a drive yesterday (he has been in and driven the turbo s) and he said "oh my god, I have never been in anything like this in my life, wow, this thing is incredible!". That's kind of what it's like.
I looked at this car a few times, at first I thought the interior was too over the top, wasn't sure about yellow again, but as I shopped more and more GT3's, they all looked the same and the uniqueness of this car grew on me and I finally embraced it as fitting for such an extreme machine with the yellow exterior and all. It is one of 44 / 991.2 RS's in racing yellow imported to the US and probably one of a dozen or two Weissach pack RS's. When you add the custom ordered interior options, I think it's probably a 1 of 1 spec and I kind of liked that fact. Also, I think Porsche did an extremely good job on the overall design and lines of this generation GT3 RS. Personally, I think it looks incredible standing still in the garage, like it's ready to do some serious business and is visually very appealing to look at. Both of these factors played a part in swaying me toward the RS version.
The yellow is very reminiscent of my former 996TT of 18 years, of which my wife and I have so many fond memories and I love that. This car brings us back to a feeling of those days with an updated version, seemingly on steroids, so that is very cool. If you have not driven one, you owe it to yourself as a Porsche fan to try one out. Just be prepared to want one badly after the drive :-)
All that said, the 996TT is also an incredible car, but IMO, the GT3 seems very special when you are behind the wheel.

Thanks for the detailed comparison, sounds incredible. The aero package on the GT3RS certainly looks asphetically pleasing, and I'm sure if works as good as it looks. Car looks awesome, when you are buying an RS car, I think it is fine to go out of your comfort zone a bit, as these cars are special, and a tad over the top looks just right on an RS, I hope I articulated that properly
I certainly think the car looks sweet.
Enjoy.

Yes, I get your gist and agree. That wing can generate over 900 lbs. of downforce at top speed, which I will certainly not be requiring on the street, but it's cool to look at in the garage :-)
