Agreed. I didn't touch my 996TT for three years of ownership. When I was ready I asked a few dumb questions here and all the info I got from fellow members was gold. you can't beat 6O for the good oil on modding a 996TT.

This is THE classic historic read!
I have read the article 20 times, very interesting and I believe it is
from 2003. So the little tuner called Protomotive built a car (Hamann's I
believe) that decimated the others in terms of POWER. (10.74 1/4 mile in 03')
Another interesting note from yesteryear is that VRAlex car (Alex Dje......)
built by S-Car-Go Racing's Rob King (Very, Very knowledgeable 996TT guy
by the way) had Nitrous Oxide on it !!!. I believe this car (of Alex's) later
went to Protomotive (where Todd quickly yanked off the nitrous) and had
some "Turbo Magic" worked into it.

There are many fantastic tuners that can help you and you also can find
some stuff used on these two forums as well. As an example, I believe KPG
has an incredible turbo/ECU set-up for sale, etc. Welcome and good luck.
