Upgraded fuel system issue? Advice from anybody who’s been there done that?

We replaced the fuel pump and fuel lines with a very high flow fuel pump, enough to support 1000 wheel horsepower on E85.

it was a direct fit and replacement for the stock pump in the stock basket.

I have very large -10 fuel pressure feed lines, -8 return line, and I put a T inside the tank in the -10 pressure line in order to use the factory siphon tubes for the corners of the tank to draw fuel into the basket. Basically I duplicated and kept the exact intake for your system how it originally was but it’s just not filling the basket fast enough unless the tank is full and fuel pours in through the top of the basket also. sucks it dry real quick…

If my fuel level drops to below the top of the basket level, I start starving for fuel.

I was thinking of just cutting some holes in the bottom of the basket so it could draw fuel directly from the bottom of the tank but then I’m worried about losing fuel during high G force side loads or acceleration. Maybe this wouldn’t be an issue though?

trying to figure out what I’m missing here from somebody who might’ve already had this issue in order to make sure that I’m not sucking the fuel basket dry with this big fuel system before it can refill itself when the fuel level is below the top of the basket.

As soon as I’m down to about 3/4 of a tank which seems to be about the top of the basket, I start having issues. The car is not very usable if I gotta too off the tank every 45 minutes. Lol

Thanks for any advice on any proven tweaks I could make to eliminate this issue.

A couple pictures show the large fuel lines and the key that I used to duplicate and use all the factory hoses inside the tank except for the seed and return coming through the pick up. It just sucks that basket dry super fast!

Thanks

Wouldnt the better option be running a surge tank. Lift pumps from the OEM tank into surge cell and that should always be topped up as the return goes into it too

its been 18 years since production of 996TT has ended and there still is no quality proven plug n play e85 system for sale. This is why I stay away from tuning e85 cars with experimental fuel system kits, as they all are experiments...

Like mentioned above, you just need a surge tank setup.

Also remember the bigger line holds a lot of fuel in and of itself.
