How to install spoiler microcontrollers?

I've had a fixed GT2 wing on my car, and just recently switched back to the stock decklid and spoiler. I had to buy a new wiring harness, and am not quite sure how to install these microcontrollers? The metal part covering the switch doesn't actually fit into the slot. Is this supposed to be bent backwards? I just don't want to try that and damage something.

The microswitches original to the car fit into the slot and don't have that overhanging part. I ordered a replacement switch and they sent me the one you have but I have not tried to make it work yet. I couldn't find the right switch anywhere. It might work if you cut off the excess metal part on the switch but I haven't tried this. Those are the 997 style switches.

I think bending that metal piece back is the right thing to do, but I don't want to risk it. I had to order the whole wiring harness and it was expensive. It's odd because I definitely ordered the 996 wiring harness, and not a 997 one.

I'm curious if anyone has a photo of their original microswitches they could share?

I just saw this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-marketplace-old/1029339-fs-996-turbo-new-wing-harness-99661207021-a.html

It looks like the metal pieces are in fact there. I'm still not sure exactly how they fit in.

Or is this again a new harness that hasn't been used, and those metal pieces should be bent back?

The installation process for microcontrollers can vary by brand and model. To ensure a proper installation, it's best to follow the manufacturer's instructions provided with your specific spoiler and microcontroller.
