Have u heard of this new law about applying a portable GPS device & V1 radar detector

I just hardwired my V1 and was thinking about buying a portable GPS to suction cup on my windshield as well and just read this:

NOTICE TO STATE OF CALIFORNIA DRIVERS: California Vehicle Code section 26708(a)(1) provides that "No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows." Drivers in California should not use the suction mount on their windshield or side or rear windows.

So you can now get ticketed for this too?? A cop can now pull you over if he feels irritated seeing your V1 hanging off your windshield??

Reading the link, 11 A is your Out. The device (V1) is a communications receiver (X, K, Ka bands) that allows communications between the Highway Patrol car's Radar (Ka band Transmitter/Receiver). Further the reason the V1 is legal is that the FCC allows use by all US citizens of any radio receiver, premepting any State laws (in spite of such existing unchallenged in a few other states).

you'll never get out on 11a which is limted to "enforcement" devices and not the opposite...and the area you would have to have it mounted would not allow for suction cups. Many states have this law, its a good one that prevents people from hanging all sorts of crap in the filed of vision.

There are many other ways for you to hang it as have been suggested...or mount it in your front grill with a remote readout on the dash.

The language simply says communications with the vehicle, which it indeed does. This one is for the lawyers but...

You're absoultely right about permanent mountings... One in the grill of the F250 Crew Cab Diesel tow rig and one in the back door of the trailer each with a remote. I Love my V1's - we have one for every driver in the house.

The nagging problem then is on trips in rental cars. I even take mine to Europe with me!

BTW -The V1 is supposed to keep you from having to ride the bus. )

Get caught with that in France, they'll take it out of your car and make you drive over it! Seriously.
