Car At Dealer, They Dont Know Whats Wrong!!! Help???
Well, I am going to have to ask you guys for some input. My car stalls out when I push the clutch in?! RPMs just drop to zero, lights come on like I turned the ignition switch off.
It will stall at idle when clutch goes in or at 4-5k rpms on the track.
the dealer is "checking" everything but this is now day 2 and no answers!?
Of course no one at the dealer has EVER heard of this before! How about anyone of you gurus??
Me and the dealer need some help!!
thanks so much for any insight that I can pass along to the dealer

It sounds like a problem with the battery charging system. The symptoms sound like the battery is dead and the car can only run on the alt. But since this has been an ongoing problem for you I would guess that you have a short somewhere.
It sounds similar to a problem I had when I had my 996 cab. It did the same thing it sounds like. My problem was a catastrophically bad MAF. I made the mistake of cleaning my own K & N filter with fluids that the MAF didn't like at all...Killed the MAF. Hope this helps
Man that is weird, pushing the clutch in and stalling was tuning and lightweight flywheel/clutch setup in my older M3! I dont know what it could be in your case, hope they find out the problem and it doesnt burn a hole in your pocket
Goodluck!
Goodluck!
Tom - call Joe @ GermanTech (727) 547-0818, tell him Mike Cobb suggested you call. Worst case he can not help - explain the mods you had just changed (didn't you say some programming and then exhaust?) possibly a re-engineering of what you added or a new thought. Worth a try ...
Good ideas and suggestions, I appreciate you guys input!!! Car has been at dealer now since monday. It is now wed at 6pm and THEY STILL DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG!!
I really dont have many options but let them keep guessing or one of you gurus giving me something they havent thought about.
So far this dealer has been really fair with me so we will see.........
thanks again

thanks wross......yes I have the LWFW but that has always been a help to me and normally not a problem. I agree with the fuel idea and the dealer said all was well but I had them put in a EVO 1:1 5 bar FPR just in case!
this also started at the track after one initial hard 45 minute run with no trouble. Second run stalled on a heel toe down shift then on a 2 to 3 upshift, that's when I know something was wrong.
The car will now stall at idle if you just push the clutch in! I would think it should be something obvious to a mechanic (something with the clutch do hickey?) anyway dealship still on day three has no answers but they are sure something is wrong!
I'll let ya know, thanks for the input!!

Tom,
One of my students this past weekend had a GT3. We were driving trough a slower part of the track (2nd gear) and he spun it pretty good. The car stalled and when he tried to get it started, it would run for a second, then stall out again. We had the car towed to the Evo trailer and Todd noticed that the intake manifold had gotten loose. He tightened it a bit but the car continued to stall after a while. Could the car be getting too much air somewhere and stalling out?

Tom, Just a follow-up to the LWFW...when you "stall" the car what exactly do the RPM's do? If you engage the cutch and blip the gas, what happens? It is not that unusual for the LWFW to run your rpms to as ow as 500 when engaged...this is sometimes too low for the car to recover and hence a stall. It may be "fixed" with some tuning modification. (BTW your tuning should be modified for the 5bar FPR!). Good luck buddy!
Luis, thanks for the input, I'll hit the dealer with that, I appreciate your help!
Wross the heel toe blip thing is normal, if I give gas immediately, but if you actually hold the clutch all the way in the rpms drop to zip and car stalls!
thanks again for the ideas, back to the dealer tomorrow for day 4.
