OEM GT2 wheels on a 996TT - Do they fit?

I did a search on the forum but there wasn't anything conclusive on whether the 18x8.5 (fronts with 235/40-18 rubber) and 18x12 (rears, with 315/30-18 rubber) will fit on a 996TT.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Were there different offsets between the GT2 and the 996TT? I don't want to use spacers, etc.

Thanks in advance for the help.

They fit just fine and fill out the fenders much better than the stock 996TT wheels do.

GT2's and TT have the same body dimensions. GT2 wheels have the same offsets as the 996TT, just 12's in the rear and 8.5's in the front.

The GT2 wheels, in addition to their increased width, have a more aggressive offset.

Not true. You can not fit TT onto a Gt2. Only vice versa .Due to difference in offsets.

Funny you should ask that. Duane, who used to own your turbo, had GT2 wheels mounted on it way back when. I used to have a picture of your car with the GT2 wheels mounted. And yes, they do fit.

Thanks for the info.

Please explain 'aggressive offset'. Not sure I understand the term.

That is funny! I was actually planning on keeping them as 2nd set of wheels for track duty or for when I need to get work done on the HREs (I may need to get them refinished since the clear coating is starting to peel).

You can fit 12" GT2 wheels with fender rolling on TT. All GT2s rear fenders were already rolled from factory.

They fit but I sliced up a perfectly good set of MPSC at the track. The fenders were slicing the outside edge of the tires under compression. I have the stock susp and have been told that a modified susp and camber setting will allow them to be used safely at the track. Kevin

My fenders are rolled so I guess that will not be a problem.

Just the fronts are more aggressive-
The 996tt have 50mm fronts and 45mm rears for offsets!
The GT2's have 40mm fronts and 45mm rears!

I also do not have a stock suspension anymore and I will have to make sure to check whether I will need any changes to the current alignment if I was to run sticky rubber on them. Thanks for the reminder!
