Anyone here ever driven a Diablo VT?

Just saw this awesome video of Jeremy Clarkson as a passenger with the chief Lamborghini test driver in a Diablo VT on a track, and he just about lost it (Jeremy, that is - and for someone who tests cars for a living, and does some heavy driving, that's saying something - he looked scared out of his flippin' mind!).

Anyone driven one of these things? 495hp for the late 90's ones, 520 later on. Unreal how it must do on the track. I like the look more than the Murci, personally, although the headlights seem better on the late 90's ones, when they are retractable.

Sweet ride.

Yeah, the later Diablos have the Nissan 300ZX headlights with a little piece of carbon fiber covering the top of the light where it says "Nissan Motor Co Japan" or something like that. I thought it would be a good idea to buy the Nissan lights for $600 a pop and sell them to Diablo owners for like $3500, but then realized the # of Diablos breaking their headlights would be pretty minimal

Like my lambo only more powerful. They are a blast but a handful at the track ... you'd better be good. They have great grip but are really heavy and this means that when they do let loose, they let loose in a big hurry that you better catch it quickly. Because they are so heavy, you usually have to upgrade the brakes (more air and better brakes). Shifting is good, suspension is excellent (slight understeer that can be easily corrected with the throttle), acceleration great, but just too damn heavy to be a good track car. An awesome autobahn cruiser.

I have driven one of 10 dual supercharged Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadsters and I must say it was pretty unbelievable. 737HP at the wheel so it puts the one in the video to shame. 0-60 in the high 2's and handling to boot with all-wheel drive. The one I drove was a '97 and cost almost $200,000.

Yes, they are awesome. There are 2 versions which are good for track use. The 94 Se which is a lightweight rear wheel drive model, approx 3200pds 525hp, and the Sv, 3300 pds, and 530hp. Later models have great brakes, while earlier models leave alot to be desired in that department.

The thing I remember about driving a Diablo VT was the exhaust. That thing sounded pissed off when you were under full throttle. I loved it! I will definately own a late model Diablo some day. I just have to be able to afford to add it to my stable because I will not give up the RED BEAST!

I drove my frinds SV once...my problem is that I am so used to 911s by now that I found that and a 355 I owned for a few weeks 'too big' LOL
The sound of the SV is sick!! no point of a rearview mirror though cause you cant see diddly out of that rear windshield..I owned a C4 at the time and found the power and pickup on the SV unreal!! would like to try it again now that Im used to TT power (especially the IA600 program)

Absolutely, there is huge difference in size between the two. Takes a little getting used to. Porsche feels much more nimble.
