I finally lost a race in the GT2

Still, that's one tempting shot of the starting line. I have to wonder how some of the TT cars keep cool going that fast for that long. I could understand a posrche doing it but most of the high hp cars I kknow have serious overheating problems when running for long times (mine included). Upgraded Radiator, Oil Cooler etc etc can only help so much.

I miss SoCal man... I need to get back to San Diego ASAP.

Most never race up to 200 on the highway either, but the fact that you are racing someone in traffic makes it equally as dangerous, pick your poison I guess?

But honestly on a dusty public highway it's not always the best idea. Just be sure you have a new set of tires, maybe x-ray them, balanced very well and hope for the best.Funny you mention that, i've gone much faster on the open highways than I ever have in a race, go figure.
Getting a crazy HP car to run cool takes some work and it's not just about massive radiators and such. Proper air ducting, plus keeping it actually flowing through the engine bay is crucial. Oh and not blocking the front of the car with a huge air:air intercooler. Have to hide those air cores somewhere else
and no we don't run air:water at all. That twin turbo viper that we (it's a team event) ran last year ran just as cool as stock sitting in traffic on the strip in vegas when it was well over 100F. Just takes a little thinking outside the box and it's easy. But there are other issues, diff coolers and things that need to be looked at as well.
Vipers have it easy though, we can drop it in 6th with that .50 OD and run 200 turning a hair under 4k rpm.

bah screw this open road business, who wants to do Gumball
VRAlex?
Markski?
LVEric?
Shank?
That would be quite an adventure to say the least. Now who can we get to sponsor us for bail money?

I wouldn't touch a nascar tire, you can't get them in wheel sizes bigger than 15 so they are useless. Think ALMS prototype if you want to run slicks

Of course I'm no auto expert, are you using smaller duel units like the Porsche TT's. that sounds like a good idea. I'd like to know because I'm about to adjust my intercooler to give more room for air to reach my radiator pretty soon but if there are other options I'd consider those as well.
Where we put them most will think it would never get any airflow what so ever, but you have to think outside the box a bit and use the low pressure of certain areas to pull air through them. They don't really need direct frontal airflow to work what so ever.
And in testing our AITs haven't moved more than few degrees as measured going into the intake manfiold.

You can see a wee bit of them from the front of the car but thats about it. And no external body mods are required to make them work. This is all custom made stuff, nothing you can buy off the shelf and just bolt on a car.

That makes two of us
When it was only like $15grr a couple of us could probably make it happen, but last years being near $100k, %)#*(&# that.
sorry I didnt read all 12 pages, just the first few and I have a few questions...
what turbo system was on that viper? heffner, underground, etc?
built motor or a stock 99 motor?
what size turbos does he have on it if you know?
how much boost was he running?
was he running 345-18 bfg dr's or what tire?
thats a sick time for such a bad launch and the mph is very nice

i dident read all 11 pages, but Saad was huge in the supra community for a long time putting down 1K hp and running low 9's all day long... it dosent suprise me to see him spanking gt2's at the track.
Last years covered something like 3 continents and such, so it paid for all the travel, vehicle transport, hotels, parties, and all that jazz.
07' says it will be $28k pounds, which is what like $56k USD? still up there. Makes for a pretty expensive trip when you're blowing $10k/day
Oh and thats driver + one pass... additional people are $12k pounds/head
So much for putting a 1200hp something in a 64' lincoln and hauling *** with 6 people in a land yacht.
I'm curious, what do you do about drivers licenses in all these crazy countries? does a US license work?
