Great News - New Bolt On GT28 Turbos from Tial
We will have the first shipment in 4 weeks. Taking $500 deposits now. Stay tuned for technical data from us on our 996TT as well. These turbos are the answer to the quest for reliable and affordable horsepower!
Tial has just released these bolt on turbos for the Porsche 996TT 01-05. The new Tial Alpha Series turbos are a GT-28 based turbo designed to get your Porsche Turbo to 700HP. The bolt on turbos include everything you need for installation. New water lines and fitment kit is included in our pricing. The Tial Porsche turbos require no modification to the stock exhaust system and use their patented CNC wastegate actuator brackets. The turbo is a ball bearing design which is kept cool and moving with oil and water. The boost threshold is equal to stock as you can achieve up to 700 crank horsepower with additional engine mods. Vivid Racing sells necessary parts to upgrade including: injectors, fuel pumps, exhaust systems, headers, ECU tuning, gauges, and engine internals. These turbos blow away anything the competition has to offer and at a great price! Check out the brillant pics of the new Tial turbos for your Porsche 996TT. Turbos are sold as a pair.
Stay tuned for dyno sheets, videos, install pics, and more!

Will be interested to see what they can safely do on a car with exhaust, headers and proper tune, but none of the "built" aspects of a higher HP motor...i.e. are they a good stepping stone for someone with K16's who would be looking to go the K24 route?

The price is $3900 including the water lines and fitting kit for the oil lines, gaskets, etc.
Tuning can be done by anyone, however we are releasing a software where you can self tune or have a dyno shop tune it for you locally. Stay tuned! LOL

These turbos have been on Tial's website for awhile now: http://www.tialsport.com/prod_tc_tial_a_996t.htm . Moreover, a GT28 based turbo for a 996TT is not a new concept . . . there are MANY driving around.
Have you done any testing to determine which of these additional products are necessary for proper use of the turbos? Is the stock fuel system adequate for these turbos? Are upgraded “engine internals” necessary? Which “internals” are you selling? Have you created a package of supporting products, or are you leaving said decisions to the consumer?
"Tuning can be done by anyone"? Anyone? Can my local Pep Boys do it? Speaking from experience, I respectfully disagree. There are very few competent programmers for 996TT ECUs. Having properly matched software is everything! Moreover, the software must not only be matched to the specific characteristics of the turbos, but also the other components, including the fuel system in particular. I have been down this road before, trying to have software created for turbos that I purchased without existing software. It certainly can be done, but NOT by “anyone,” and the process can be very difficult, time consuming and expensive.
“Self tune”? No offense, but I can hardly self-drive. I sure as heck am not going to write a program for my 996TT ECU on my own.
“Have a dyno shop tune it for you locally.” Once again, I would never trust a “dyno shop” to tune by 996TT ECU.
That’s a mighty bold statement. Why do these turbos “blow away anything” else available? How can you make such a statement if you have not even tried a set of these turbos yet? Don’t you really mean that you hope that these turbos will “blow away anything the competition has to offer,” but you will not know until you actually install a set on a 996TT, determine what fuel system upgrades are necessary, determine what internal engine upgrades are necessary, have a competent programmer create a program specifically tailored to these turbos and your unique combination of supporting products, then rigorously test and retest the set up???????
Good luck with your new project. I hope these turbos achieve everything you expect and more!

What???
I would not slap on a set of larger turbos without custom tailored programming along with the necessary fuel system, intake and exhaust upgrades.
Vivid Racing's claims are very ignorant to claim you can just bolt on these turbos and expect big power increases from an otherwise stock car.
What I think you can expect is a BIG repair bill when you suffer an engine failure from a poorly designed turbo upgrade.
Do these guys actually tune cars?
