Safe Tip Experiment
100% sure that is not good for the transmission
This is the first time that I heard of torque converter problem with this launch; maybe just happened that you have a bad torque converter at the first place???
Either way, I really don't do this much... only to see what my car could do.
this was my problem : https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=126989
Unfortunately that is the case. Did 4 runs on a 996tt tip with no left foot braking, and runs were between 6.1 seconds and 5.8 seconds for the 0-60mph, all taken off a Performance Box.
Definitely a result of turbo lag. I am trying to convince a friend to lend me his TT tip for another test just to confirm if the test car was stuffed. My standard 993 Carrera 2 manual did the 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds (needed to dump the clutch to get that figure). Go figure. Pretty sad huh. Anyway, 0-60mph times are pretty redundant in the real world.

Yup, running bigger turbo's. For me I need to get the revs up high which worries me- I remember that Sharkey had a modified torque converter on his ex car that could take bigger RPM launches and I am thinking of getting that for my car. My gearbox has no mods at the moment other than an external cooler.
