19s will inevitably make the ride more harsh. How much harsher is dependent on road conditions, suspension setup and type of tires. If you have nasty roads, maybe it's not such a good idea. Also, if you can't get in the habit of watching the roads carefully for holes or nasty bumps, you are just asking for a bent wheel.

What did you end up deciding on?

Have a lot of experience with both and agree with what was already said, if your focus is "bling" or appearance, go with 19's and will sacrafice a bit of ride quality and have the potential for damage.

If you are more performance oriented, you'll be better off with the 18's. Having been a huge Supra enthusiast for years, I would never consider a 19" wheel as you just can't get any traction even at bpu levels. With the AWD of the 996TT, I doubt this ever becomes an issue!

ScottSLC: Great Taste in Wheels! IMO those are as good as it get's even though you gave up the "big lips"

bluetosman, beautiful car. If you have anymore pictures I'm sure everyone here would love to see them. You should def. do a photoshoot if you haven't already. That car deserves to shine

P.S. Any Idea how much a set of 18" Techart wheels are running these days ?
