Has anyone tested spraying the intercooler?
Hi All. I had the pleasure of witnessing a national SCCA autocross
this weekend. The professionalism and camraderie among these
people, who race at the ultimate limit of the car, completely on
their own money, was thrilling.
I noticed several competitors with intercooled turbocharged
cars spraying cold water on their intercoolers between runs. One
guy said that especially on a hot day, if he didn't do this after a
one-minute run, he would be able to feel the power loss on the
second run. Has anyone here dynoed their car and possibly
observed a difference in output after changing the temperature
of the intercooler? This might be a trick performance hack, to
switch the windshield fluid pump to spray water on the inter-
coolers?
thanks,
Joe

I noticed alot of people have tried using these kits. We had a customer do that on the dyno with his Supra, it made a little bit more power, but it made a bigger mess. You decide and have fun.

We set up Sharksters car to spray NOS on the intercoolers. You can also use CO2. H20 setup is alot heavier when you compare the liquid to the gas... Buy a pressure/boost switch and set it to .6 bar... That's the sweet spot for activation of the solinoid..

I would bother using it in cold temperatures but it sure does seem to work for me in anything about 60. IC's cool down like there's no tomorrow...
Back in the day I used to mess around with modded DSMs. Spraying the stock IC yielded almost the same gains as upgrading to a large FMIC, without the additional lag.

Ever tried upgrading the TT IC's though
? Hehe... The GT2 ones seem exactly the same to me. I was thinking about taking them out at one point and having Spearco make me some but the stuff Kevin/Stephen/My wife did suits me fine
