If it fits the 996 GT2, can I assume the same fitment to 05 TT "S" or is there a difference in the drivetrain?

On a related note, my understanding is that the factory SS option was actually manufactured by B&M for Porsche. Is this correct?

I guess my bottom line question is that if the 997GT3 shifter is a direct bolt-on for 996TTS, and if it is "better", I agree it's a relatively inexpensive mod.

Any updates?

I'm waiting for the shifter to arrive via UPS around Wednesday. I've already spoken to several forum members over at RL who have done the switch without any problems. The moment it is in and I drive it (hopefully no later than Thursday) I'll post my results. I was also told that you should order the cup car shifter cables. They have the metal tips over the standard plastic. I was told that there is a lot less play when the shifter is in gear. Not sure if I want to go through any further B.S., but I'm going to look into that too.

BTW, I had to replace my glove box latch because a coupling on the spring snapped loose, what a pain in the butt that was. Porsche doesn't make any DYI easy. Does anyone know if the new latch leaves the slot open so you can replace your stock locking mechanism? That part is also supposed to arrive Wednesday or Thursday. Sheeesh!

Sorry, can't help you much with your BTW but i'm looking forward to the results. Do you by chance know how much the cup shifter cables are?

Keep us up to date! Sounds like a great alternative for the 996tt boys who hate the B&M's and even the Porsche SSK.

Props to you for taking the plunge and being the guinea pig!

SSK is definitely a good mod. Interested to see how it stacks up. Can't imagine THAT much difference between SSKs....
