I paid $450 for 997 short shift kit to install on my 996 Turbo. It still not as smooth as the 997 Turbo shifting. (I've drove 997 Turbo many time). Don't know why when we using the same kit??

I'm not sure I follow the point or clarification that you are attempting to make. The Porsche SSK and the B&M SSK are the same kit. That's why alot of people find it notchy. The 997 Gt3 shifter that I am talking about is an entire unit, with the newer components, not just a reduced throw kit. I'm still waiting for it to arrive, I'll keep you all posted.

OK clarify again...what exactly is "an entire unit"...are you replacing the cables?...The shift ****?...the linkage? The reason some are notchy is 1. poor installation or 2. variation in the component parts. Mine (B&M) is not notchy at all.

9Eleven,

Can can you post the part number? Is it simply 997.424.010.000 as pictured above? My dad started at Rockville Porsche yesterday. I think I'm going to call him and have him pay a visit to the parts counter for me

Cheers,
Justin

I mean this being the entire unit, not just the B&M kit components. I may go to cup car cables, but I'm not sure yet. As far as the notchy feeling in the shifter, you may be right. It could be poor installation, a variation of components or a personal opinion. I feel that my shift throws are less smooth; Cohare also feels it is too notchy. I felt Maxwell's and his felt perfect and his installation was a DYI. So, who knows, I'm just trying to come up with a viable alternative.

I bought the 997 Short shift kit Part# 997-424-983-00 list at $488.

It comes with whole unit. Not just the linkage like the B&M does.

I'm curious about this, too. I asked my dad to pick one up for me, as he works at a Porsche dealership, and he came back to me saying "All I could find was 997 424 983 00 for $496 [minus his discount]". Could it be an outdated PEP or something? Whatever it is, he can't find 997.424.010.000. Maybe I'll just order from Tischer or something

Edit: just noticed I have an extra 0. But the dad says it wouldn't even let him plug in that third 0... would it?

Jesus, can you guys walk and chew gum at the same time? Mine arrived yesterday in the mail. It includes everything you see in the photo. It even includes the newer heavier duty shifter cable connecters. I will be installing it tomorrow. Use the exact part number that is attached to the shifter in the above photo and call Sunset Porsche, they are selling them for 165 plus shipping.
