I just read on another forum that the new 997 Gt3 shifter is butter smooth with the perfect length throws. I also read that it can be installed in a 996 Gt3. I would assume it would then fit in any 996 including a Gt2. The entire kit only goes for 183.00 Does anyone have any information on this? BTW, ViperBob was doing the first test.

the 997 gt3 shifter is more direct with a little bit of notchiness, it is smoother but also feels more mechanical, this is all compared to the 996 gt3 shifter. I also like the shape of the shift **** more.

I'm not talking about the ****. I was told that you can replace your entire unit and then use your stock shifter (Gt2). I had a 996 Gt3 and loved the shifter, if this one is better, I'm all in. Here is a photo of the 997 Gt3 shifter.

Not 100 percent sure of the price. That is the price that I got from a thread on another forum. I am going to call my contact at Tischer Porsche and get a definitive answer on whether it will fit and how much it will cost. I would guess that it would run closer to 400.00, but you never know.

I called Tischer Porsche this morning. It costs 193.00 dollars. I ordered it and it should be at my residence in 3 to 4 business days. I'll keep you advised if anyone gives a damn.

Dude, I just wrote that the part is 193.00 total with tax and shipping it's 203.00 dollars. Sounds pretty cheap to me.

Mario,
Good luck, I hope it fits.
Comparing my 2 cars, the "factory" shifter in the GT3 is SOOOO much better than the B&M in my 996 TT (which is pretty good, BTW). Let me know how it turns out.

I am crossing my fingers that this works out. We could soon see a flood of used b&m's coming on the market..

On another note, this wouldnt be as noticable for warrranty co's to find either!

I'm interested and do give a damn. Please let us know since I want to feel it in person too. I hate my car's shifter. So, rubbery and yuck!

EDIT: Just found that link on RL.

I think my only concern is the fitment of the stock shifter and shift boot on the 997 shifter rod. I hope it works. I also ordered a 996 Gt3 shifter just in case. If the 997 fits, Tischer told me they will take the 996 shifter back and give me a full refund.
