Help with headlights

Recently, my headlights do not always go on when I turn the switch. I need to switch back and forth 3 or 4 times to get them on. I took out the switch in hopes of spraying contact cleaner on the switch, but it is a sealed switch with very limited access.
Tonight, with my headlights on, I turned on the bright lights and ALL lights went out. That was a trip.
Can I be sure that it is the switch and not the ignition switch? Where is the best place to buy a switch? I can install it.

David

Switch

Sounds like the switch to me. You can probably test the switch before you buy a new one.

How? The problem is sporatic. I'm ready to buy one if I need it but I hate buying something to find out it was the wrong part.

i would think the best way to test the switch for electrical continuity would be with a voltmeter, you can check both continuity and resisitance with a multimeter available mostly anywhere.

I've read about this issue several times and seems to be fairly common. Always turns out to be a bad headlight switch.

Common as in it happens, not common like it happens all the time to everyone and it returns in short order... My 2 cents

David

I just dropped my p-car for the same symptoms except, the low beams no longer come on. I tried replacing the lights but that didn't work. The other lights still work. I' ll know more later.

Just got a call back from the shop and it's the switch.
