X74 Arrival
Hi all,
Just arrived at my place from Carnewal - the X74 suspension kit for 996's.
Thanks to Gert at Carnewal - it only took a couple of days to arrive.
Now for the rest of the Porsche bits....This will be fitted to my new 996 which is to delivered in late November....
The kit contains all you see in the photo plus the swaybar rubber mounts and some plates which fit to the front struts (I think).
We cannot get the X74 kit fitted to our Porsches delivered from factory (Aust design regs) so I'm going to get it installed by my dealer when the car arrives
FYI - The diameters of the swaybars are as follows:
Front = 24mm
Rear = 20mm

I know someone with the X74 and they are very happy with it, I am sure you will be happy as well, my father just ordered X73 for his TT from Gert at Carnewal and its due to arrive this Thursday and will be installed next week.
Man,
All I need now are some......wheels, wheel nuts, supension arms, engine, gearbox, seats, body, chassis, etc etc etc...so that I can say 'I now own my first Porsche'.
I'm still waiting impatiently till the end of November for the real deal.....

Darren, I'm still waiting.....for the car to arrive
I still have not received a shipping date (indicated arrival in Australia) but my dealer is forecasting mid - late November.
The dealer did advise that he had confirmation that the car was built in week 35 - which I assume was around 2 weeks ago. It usually takes around 8 or so weeks for a new one to arrive in Australia.
Ben...
The main reason why I chose X74 over adjustables was that I do not really require adjustability over ride height. My car will mainly be a street vehicle with the odd couple of track days.
Having the adjustable setup is great - If you use it. In my experience though for a street car, suspension is usually set and forget.....less hassle at the end of the day.
Main difference with the X74 relative to stock is that the ride height is changed by around 40mm and the shock absorbers have completely different valve/damping rates and bumpstops to suit the lower stance of the vehicle.
If you compare my photos of the front struts with the picture thats in the standard 996 vehicle brochure/book (has a pic of the stock front end) you will clearly see how much thicker the springs are and also how much shorter the overall length of the springs are relative to stock.
Price wise the X74 setup is normally a little cheaper than a PSS9 kit but I also purchased the X74 when Gert had a sale on it a few weeks ago.
