I can't believe I'm asking ...

I'm having a REALLY bad search day. I'm trying to find a DIY for moving the A/C Controls to the bottom slot. I have the trim piece. I have the deeper cubby. I've scoured renntech and 6speedonline but to no avail.

Can some Search God please give me a link to a post (or otherwise) on how to do this from step 1? I'm a virgin console modder so the dumber the instructions the better .

It seems as if it would be right there at my fingertips ...

Rob

It's a new morning ...

I may be piecing this together thru various threads, but here is what I think I understand. Confirmations? More info?
  1. Remove center trim piece
  2. Remove torque screws from climate control unit
  3. Remove unit
  4. Question: Once I have lower tray removed and slide in the climate control, how does it secure? From the front/side?? And the new larger tray .. how will it now secure?
#4 is where I get lost. I guess I could start this project blind, but I'd rather not. Sorry if this seems obvious to many ... it just isn't to me . Thanks all.

If you wanna go nuts, start here... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...hlight=kenwood
Some of the pics should help. Yours will go in the bottom slot instead of my modded top location and it secures with screws on the sides.
The hardest part is snaking the cable down to the lower console area. the lower console side covers pull off straight to the side (grab from lower rear and pull outwards), and then you'll see the screws to remove the console etc.

If you're not going to mod the AC location as in my thread, it makes things that much easier. All you'll need to buy is the new trim piece which is cheap.

Perfect .. the comments about what to expect when the side panels come off is exactly what I needed. Thanks!
