Thumbs up Has n e 1 updated 98-01 to 02 up?

Lookin into updating 99 into 04 gt3. I know headlights are different and bumper, but does the 04 headlight fit the 99 fender?
Then it's the headlight housing and minor plastic pieces.
Help in direction would be kool
Thanks +rep for help.

I believe that in addition to the headlights and bumper, you unfortunately will need new fenders, new headlight housings, and wiring harnesses. With the costs involved with all the parts (+bumper, rear wing/engine cover/side skirts), I think most people on this forum will recommend that you bite the bullet and just purchase a 996 GT3, especially since they are selling at incredible prices right now...(value wise).

But if you have some of the parts already, by all means go your own course. Keep in mind that a factory GT3 has quite a lot of differences mechanically than a 99-01 Carrera as well. Might be worth the jump.

Also, I don't there are +rep points anymore.

Good luck!

I assume you mean the look of an '04 GT3. If you mean an actual GT3, forget about it.

There are facelift kits out there. But you will get killed in resale, recouping almost nothing from what you invest. While it will cost you more to actually buy an '02+, doing that and getting the MKII aerokit installed will be less expensive in the longer run. You probably will have a hard time finding a resale that has the kit already installed, because there just plain aren't that many out there. Firgure low $40's to buy the car and another $5k +/- for the aerokit installed.

I updated my car to 02+ its not that big of a deal, and if you keep the old parts reversible for resale...so no you wont decrease the value of your car...its fenders lights and bumper, liner , wiring harness and misc parts.......add rear wing and skirts to make it the gt3 mk II look....I did mine because I was hit and would have needed a new fender and bumper anyway, add 1 more fender and lights and I was at the facelift....I also did GT3 skirts and TT rear bumper at the same time.....Since you are in LA...call Culver City Customs...ask for Raj, 310-202-1555, they did my bodywork...and its FLAWLESS, the car never looks like anything was done to it and the paint is perfect....If you are worried about resale, keep your old parts, the update is BOLT ON...so its nothing to remove the stuff and go back to stock. Although I am sure you will have no problem finding someone who wants a facelifted 99-01 996...especially if it was done right.

I was under the impression that the Porsche community was devoid of the terrible grammar and ricer mentality that runs rampant in the RX-7 community. I guess I was wrong.

Just did mine - not a big deal at all. The biggest part is the wiring hardness for the Bi-Xenon headlights. You will need:

-Left and right fenders and headlight buckets.
-Left and right headlights.
-Can buy wiring hardness (but costly) or buy the proper connectors and make your own with special molex cripper.
-Front bumper of your choice.

If you are really picky - radiator shrouds to match the bumper of choice. That's about it - really straight forward and is an easy do it yourself gig.

Apparently you aren't familiar with the negatives that go hand in hand with a scene dominated by an ever-quickly spreading 'ricer population'.

Sorry, didn't mean to upset. I just have trouble taking someone seriously when they type like a 13 year old girl. I didn't think I would see any of that on a Porsche forum, just a simple observation that I was making.

Thanks for the help and criticism.
Car had been in an accident just like newport996, so just want to see what's the option for updating the look department.
So, only concerned that I have is the wiring harness, but is it just the connectors for headlight that needs to be updated also or got to be the whole wiring harness? What if I'll go w/ halogen headlight w/ it.
Currently, halogen and if I will keep it halogen, would it be much of a different on the connector?

DONT play around with the wiring...I think the factory harnesses are a few hundred each and you need 2...why jury rig a Porsche???? Again...if you call the guy that I told you, he will tell you EXACTLY what you need.....The shop does them ALL the time and they only use factory stuff....
