Your dealer can re-program your car if you want one touch operation.

If the car is running or the key is partially turned it's one touch in my 03. if key is all the way to the left I have to hold the button.

The one touch is a pretty quick one touch. Too slow, and it doesn't work.

+1, if you hold it... it will go into manual up/down. A quick press/release will be auto up/down... same with the sunroof.

If your battery was low or recently replaced the hall effect sensor may need to be re-initialized. Press and hold the button (each window, doors closed) at the very most top and very most bottom for a few seconds in each direction should do it. Same goes for the s/r.
