How often does your engine fan kick in?

Hey, I never hear my engine fan kick on, is it that quiet? When I get home or return from a track session and turn the car off I have never to my recollection heard it blow. My temps are normal and the car does not heat up more than 200 degrees. Is this normal or am I paranoid?

Thanks

on hot summer days after a a hard run the fan rarely kicks in after I shut the engine off in the garage... and thats 95+ deg weather.

I hear both the front and rear after a short trip with 90 degree heat and A/C on. Also, a kickass drive with some F-cars.

Chances are is that the engine compartment fan is kicking on because your coolant temperature has reached 215F+. The engine compartment has to reach 175+ in order for the fan to operate. With the car sitting and running in direct sunlight, it it pretty easy to get that hot.

The noise you hear at startup is not a fan but the secondary air pump.

I just heard my rear fan the other day when I was installing my clear sides. It went on for about 1-2 mins, then again 20 mins later. It was over 90 out.

There are 2 speeds. Low speed kicks on whenever the A/C is on or the coolant reaches a little more than 200F. High speed comes on when coolant reaches 215F.

The only time I've ever heard mine was when I turned it on with the Durametric software. Although it hasn't been that warm here yet.
