Oversteer: Attempt to turn in one direction (left or right) but the rear end of the car starts to come around (fish tailing).
Most front wheel drive cars suffer from understeer, rear wheel drive cars can be controlled by the amount of throttle to acheive one or the other. That is why rear drive cars are such an advantage on the track.

Understeer: attempt to turn vehicle in one direction (left or right) but the car continues in a forward momentum. This is when the front pushes.
Oversteer: Attempt to turn in one direction (left or right) but the rear end of the car starts to come around (fish tailing).
