Review: GruppeM Exhaust for 996 C2

It was back in 2002 that tUNINGwERKS & RENNSport first broke the news about a then "new" intake for the E46 ///M3, buy a company called GruppeM.
Following a showing at the Toyo Tires booth at SEMA 2002 - GruppeM quickly became the intake of choice for the BMW tuning community.

It's now 2004 and we're back at it again, this time with a different car, along with the first US release of the GruppeM Special Exhaust available for Porsche 996 C2 and Turbo.

My personal observations:

Fit & Finish:
All welds and bends are immaculate as well as the brackets and tips. I personally love the look of the system, with a nice stainless polished look with flat grey
tips with GruppeM polished logo. (There is also a GruppeM emblem on the drivers side cannister). The system bolted up with no issues, the tips lined up perfectly as
did the piping - no adjusting needed to complete the install.

Sound:
One word - Wonderful. Not droney or annoying, actually quiet at idle, but once above 3K or when on the throttle it has a great tone that is not as high pitched as a Capristo for Ferrari, but not that hayness deep sound of the typical fast and furious import either.
A true motorsport sound that I've been looking for, with solid motorsport style tone when on the accelerator. It really has to be heard to appreciate it, I can't quite put the sound into words.

Performance:
I'll have dyno numbers shortly and hope to have the GruppeM Filter Ram Charger for the 3.6L as well - all depending upon the availability of the car (more mods to come!).
I've noticed better throttle response as well as quicker accelleration at speed, but again - this is all seat of the pants. GruppeM always does great R&D on their products, I'm sure they have a Dyno sheet sitting around that I may be able to get ahold of.
I have no qualms believing that this system has improved overall performance, their track-record can back it up as well.

Dealer:
I've always had a great relationship with GruppeM | RENNSport and this product once again shows the high-quality products offered by both companies.
RENNSport is the authorized distributor for GruppeM products in the US, other so-called distributors are buying through UK distributors, be smart - by direct from RENNSport.

Summary:
With a limited amount of companies building exhausts for the N/A 996 C2, I was extremely excited about the opportunity to debut this product.
Attention to detail and incredible fabrication is something that GruppeM has become synonomous with, along with the performance numbers to match.
If you're local in SoCal and would like to see/listen to the system in person, feel free to send me a PM.

A few pics are attached, full shot on the car to follow shortly....

Cool looking tips. Different from anything else.

The cans look great too. The brackets look bombproof compared to others I've seen.

I did, but didn't even get a chance to rev-it up or show it off with all the wonderful rides out there!! (Yours included Larry!)

Is there any way you can post a sound clip as well?
I'll try to do this but I need 2 people to pull it off (Wife is on vacation) ...Also, sound always is diff. even after something has been mic'd.

Cool looking tips. Different from anything else.
Thanks - that's precisely why I jumped on them initially, I wanted something that you don't normally see....

That piece is one of the nicest exhaust I have seen manufactured for the NA 996. Can't wait to hear it after you break it in Albert.
