Post Your High Mileage Porsche
Here is a list of what I have repaired/replaces:
· All three front radiators (passenger side now twice)
· water pump
· coolant expansion tank (as a precaution with water pump)
· power steering pump/reservoir (for the annoying squeal)
· right front bearing, left rear bearing
· front diff (due to front bearing issue)
· clutch accumulator and slave cylinder (4 times now for the slave - one time lasted only 4 days and it failed - PCNA pulled all the parts on the shelves in the US as a result of this and a few others in the country with a similar issue)
· wiring harness repair (passenger side front most cylinder – harness to the coil pack chaffing issue)
· rear main seal (while engine was down for a wiring harness repair we pulled the tranny to inspect the bearings, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel)
· two bearings in the clutch assembly – one was bad, one was fine
· Decarbon the secondary air ports from the intakes to the exhaust
· Gas cap – the gasket finally went at 186,000+ miles
· Check valve and carbon canister on the vapor recovery system for the fuel tank
· normal services done on time
· brake pads (only on the 4th rear set and 5th front set - car has PCCB's and is tracked 6-10 days/year)
· oil changes every 5000 miles religiously – Mobil 1 0W-40
· tranny and diff fluids every 60,000 miles
· Baileys DV's
· GT-3 Cup front brake ducts
· Idler pulleys
· Belt (done a couple of times)
· Suspension will be replaced shortly (KW Clubsport)
· Carden shaft will be replaced (second time now) when the suspension is done
· All four half shafts will be replaced with the suspension
· Motorsport Sways and Tarett drops links will be replaced with the suspension
· Protomotive intercoolers going in when suspension is done
· Two rear heat shields will be replaced when the suspension is done
T2 - continues to knock on wood!!

2000, purchased 3 days ago. Has 97K miles. I don't intend to drive it during winter, only spring-fall. Clean carfax, well maintained records...
Sometimes it squeals when I first start it, but immediately goes away. What could that be? After pushing it hard, I smell burning oil but no smoke, is that normal? No oil leaks on garage floor either...

squeal might be serpentine belt needs adjustment or replacement. Smelling oil might be dripping onto a portion of the exhaust system. Look for burnt residue on headers, cats, exhaust piping, then look up. I had similar symptoms and replaced filler neck due to cracking.
good luck

Thanks! I am going to do my first oil change soon. I think whoever did the last oil change over filled it and is causing the excess oil issue. I hope by filling it to the proper level will fix this small leak... The belts look like they are in great shape... I think I pinpointed the squeal to the air compressor and it's not worth it to fix it for $1000 since the thing only comes on for a little bit when either starting up or at a stand-still... My friend told me it could be the belts too and that it happens on colder days.
