Cold air intake systems
Cold air intake systems
Hi, I was looking to upgrade my air intake sys. to something that could add some sound and hopefully some hp...
I hear evom is a good choice, what do you guys think of all the air intakes out there? which one is the best??

Oh man... duck 'n' cover...
Search is your friend... there are a gazillion threads on this.
EVOMS and K&N are the two popular choices.

I have the EVOMS. Does it do anything for performance? I will leave that up to the specialists.
What it does for me is add to the sweet symphony coming from the engine bay of the car. I mean it really sounds incredible.

There Has Been A Past Thread On Capping Off The Muffler Tube(smaller Elbow Tube Running Off Primary Tube) With A Shaving Can Top. You Will Get The Increased Sound And Probably Same Performance At A Fraction Of Cost. Jmho. Jw
Evoms is the way to go. Beautiful sound without additional noise of after market mufflers. The sound of acceleration is incredible, too. It's a pure sound . . . the way Porsche engines are meant to be. Add a plenum and get the best bang for your buck. You'll be quite pleased.
It is all about sound, regardless of what kind you buy, performance gains = zero, don't let the sound fool you.
I got much more enjoyment/bang for the $ from changing out the sorry *** toyota tercel sounding stock mufflers.
Now I can hear that sweet engine sound + exotic exhaust, as it should have been all along.
The intake muffler removal that once gave it that extra "engine" sound is now a non factor for me

IMO No
I do not have PSE but I'm sure what I've got is very close to that sound level.
I do not notice it on mine after the muffler change. If I would have done the mufflers first I would have never bothered messing with it.
If one likes the quiet (to be kind
) stock muffler set up then for sure yes

I can't speak for EVOMS or K&N, but the FVD I have, in conjunction with the IPD plenum made a noticeable difference over just the PSE. Definitely a step louder, and throatier when you step on it. At cruise, it's just a little throatier.
I have the fabspeed. Only could hear it at around 4500 rpm, WOT...great sound though
.
Now at WOT 4500 rpm the SpeedArt scream is all I can hear, all I need
the remova/cap of the intake muffler was never "that" loud to start with. It does make a great sound and is plenty loud enough with quiet mufflers.

A short clip, gives one an idea, all I got for now (I plan on making another clip before long)
