Same here i do my filter every 2500, Oil every 5K

I bought the spin-on adapter for it so it uses a Mobil 1 M1-107 Spin on filter Much better then the stock and its metal not plastic so it wont break!!!

Just fill up the new one with oil spin off the old one and spin on the new one...takes 5 min...i have also been sending my oil and filter samples out to a lab to get tested every time and they tell me that i have very clean oil...i get a very detailed breakdown of whats in it.

Where do you send it to? I just turned 74K on a '02 3.6 this weekend driving back from Atlanta to Daytona, I would like to see an analysis of my oil.

I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH THE MENTIONED COMPANY!!!!!!

if you google blackstone labs...they will send you the kit for free...its super simple...I use priority mail so it costs me 5 bucks to mail it back to them and they process it upon recept.

'02

My '02 is only at 53K ... I hope to get to 100K without breaking the bank ! I'm planning 7.5K/1yr oil change (double factory schedule) - it would be interesting to see analysis at 5K versus 7.5K - I live in moderate climate - and try to avoid short trips - so 5K oil change might be too aggressive. I go to 7.5K on regular dino oil in my Toyota (80K miles now) - and the oil still looks like new when it comes out (all highway miles). Toyota changed recommendation to 5K (on dino) due to sludging problems - but I guess that depends how you drive also. I Merc S430 has >80K miles with regular factory schedule on Mobile 1 (about 13K miles).

Are the engine failures from normal street driving, or heavy pedal usage?

Just bought a 99 cab with auto last year with 50,000 mi, needs ignition coils and tubes installed misfires when cold and oil leaking tube, otherwise runs great.

If the motor ever dies, what is the most practical way or rebuild or replacement.

What did it cost?

This is all really encouraging. I'm still Porsche shopping and it seemed that every other thread was about some 996 motor disaster.
