Battery maintainer question

I just bought a black and decker battery maintainer to keep my battery from dying. This charger/maintainer has an option to use 1 amp or 2 amps setting, and I'm guessing that I should use the 1 amp setting for battery maintenance, but can anyone confirm that is correct?

Thanks!

I have been looking at maintainers too. I looked at one at Autozone and the Battery Tender online. Where are you going to put your leads to connect to the battery/maintainer?
I would set it at the lowest possible setting and monitor and adjust as needed. Is this a charger or maintainer? How does it seem to be doing? These are the two I have been looking at. Schumacher/1.5 Amps at Autozone, about 27.00
Battery Tender Plus from Amazon about 46.00

your black and decker link doesn't work. i am guessing that's a trickle charger instead of a maintainer.

i would get a battery tender instead.

I've had the Battery Tender Junior and it was more than sufficient for my last 3 cars.

Back to the OP, yes 1 amp is sufficient.

Where do you have your leads for the battery maintainer? Did you have the wires exit just in front of the windshield? I am thinking this is what I will do. Do you keep a cover on your car when stored?

Thumbs up OEM Battery Maintainer

I use the OEM from Porsche.
It cost a little more but hooks up via the cigarette lighter socket.
It also has a feedback loop monitor to monitor charging and full charge.
I plug my car up anytime I don't anticipate to drive it for more than a week.
I would recommend it.
I think part number is 95504490054
