Wheel spacers??

I have a 99 996 that I track only. I have a GT3-R wide body kit which requires me to put spacers since it has been widened. The spacers as you guys know require you FIRST, to use your existing wheel bolts to fasten the spacer to the hub, SECOND, use the wheel bolts to hold the wheel to the spacer. Can I use just longer wheel bolts to hold the wheel and spacer to the hub? Im using 1.5 in the rear and .5 in the front. I have used these at track events before with no problems but I have stripped out the bolts in the past, the one that holds the wheel to the spacer. What are your guys thought on this???
Thanks
Al

Also I can emaill you guys pics of the car if you like.
This is maybe the kind of spacer you are asking about, as for us we start this type of spacer on 25.4mm or 1" spacers, 13 and 17 is the last of the hub centric non-bolt to bolt that we offer to our customers. Ensure you are using hub-centric spacers if you go over your centric lip so you don't shift during track or normal driving.

Thanks Wheel Dynamics for your reply, nice wheels by the way!! Saw your thread on them. I guess you are using longer bolts which is what I was asking but im using 1.5inch spacers in the rear so maybe that won't work for me. Just trying to get some input on guys that are using spacers at the track. Thanks again!!

Yes, at 1.5" wide I wouldn't use the longer stud approach. Keep the bolt on bolt up as in the photos.

Good Luck,

Most of our customers use the 13mm but some who really want it all the way out will go 17mm....

Usual for the front is 7mm...... but some are happy with 5mm or even 10mm.

I think 13mm rear and 7mm front is just right, if you lower the car then I would go 17mm in the rear. Just my .02

When i look at my cars wheels i think that the 13mm spacer put the rear wheel out off the fenders like drag car. I am sure that the right dimension is 5-7mm for front and rear. I owned a europian 996 4s with 295 rear tyres......

I put 15mm F&R with my stock turbo twists and it was perfect, right out to the edge.

There is an old thread here where i posted pics.

(sorry to OP to hijack)
