Hankook V12 tires, DE worthy?

I am looking to replace my Michelin PS2 N1's. I do some DE and autocross and occasional daily driving. Serious sticker shock on the Michelin's, so I'm looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's at less than 1/2 the price of the Michelin's. Sizes are 295 (or 305)/30/19 and 235/35/19.

Are the V12's up to the task of occasional track / DE use?

Car and Driver rated them #2 in economy tires. I just put a set on an they're fine for the street. You may be slightly faster with a stiffer tread pattern but there's no reason you can't use them on the track.

I use them on my daily driver and done a couple track events, they stick as good as the Contis perhaps even better. Wear is really good. i got the rears and plan to change the fronts to the Ventus V12s also.

I've had a dozen track days with them and 5000 miles of street driving. They are great on the street, very quiet and good in rain as well. On the track, the first 5 track days were terrible with zero grip in rain, I mean zero. They were scary and my instructor said they were the worst tire he has ever seen. But after 6 or so track days, the tread were half gone and they are performing rather well (for the price). I havent used them in rain on the track lately but dry grip is reasonable now. Overall, the performance to price ratio is still excellent for a street car but not so much for the track. I am switching to Yoko AD08 next spring even though they are almost twice as much for my size. Neither Star spec nor RE11 makes 285/30/18 or 295/30/18 so not many other options for me for a dual tire for street/track. But if you are running 19s, you should go with RE11. They are MUCH better than PS2 in every way (track/street as well as price).

Similar situation as tomcat. Couldn't find much for my wheel size either. I picked up a set a these for my 996 this spring. Put about the same mileage street driving as above and also have done several track days and many auto cross events. They obviously aren't a competition tire. On the track you can tell they are street tires with the grip they provide. Did one event in the rain with these. Very impressive in the wet! I have to admit for the money they are an awesome buy. Very little wear on the tires considering how much of a beating I put on them so far this year.

I hate to be the decentor in the bunch. But, here is my Experience.

Bought them and heat cycled them immediately on the car (2002 996 C4S).
Drove on the road for a couple of weeks after that (Daily driving).
Within 1 month I did a track weekend. Noticed some unusual wear, but nothing concerning.
2 weeks later I was back at Mid-Ohio and after the first day that weekend I noticed cracking and chunking in the fronts (Both). (Less than 1500 Miles in total)

Decision: My life is worth far more than a set of these tires. 2 days later I was having the NT-01's installed.

Alignment was factory with very little deviation. VERY slight tow out, and only 0.5 degrees of Neg Camber.

IF YOU ARE considering these tires, I would get them shaved. This may help eliminate the added stress of a full tread tire during heavy loading on the track..

I have used two sets of V12 Evos under my carrera2 now. They work extremely well on road use. Here in finland our asphalt is very rough because most people use studded winter tires 6 months per year. For this reason tire noise is an issue in the summer. Evos are very quiet.

I tracked my car in Germany on Nurburgring Nordschleife last summer and I have to say the V12 Evos do squeel a lot.

+1 I have them for the fronts and will be adding to the rears soon.
