i am getting near there myself. Got the car 2 yrs ago with 60k mi. Now at 85k and the clutch is getting stiff, but no slipping.

talking to my local dealer (who has been great) he mentioned that he has never replaced a IMS bearing. when they failed under warrantee, he did the paperwork and got a new engine.

SO i am talking to a local independent who has a lot of experience installing the LN Engineering updated bearing. i will choose a path within a week and i will post it.

JB

Do it. The lower mileage cars are more prone to the failure. Just got a call yesterday about a 2004 20k mile 986 making engine noise. Another failed bearing. Cheap insurance IMHO.

Also, my take is that if the RMS is not leaking when you go in there.....don't touch it.

I would carefully read LNE's website about the upgrade. Like every single word.

I did mine with the RMS and clutch. It's not that much more once you're in there for that stuff anyway.

EDIT: I had mine done...

I put in the LN IMS bearing myself in Dec. Pretty easy job once the tranny is off. Well worth the peace of mind. Also did the AOS at the same time.
